Yeah you got me there..I was actually adding *** to that post.

How about this one? Prince actually wrote this.....so there might be a *** there too. This song was actually quite edgy and forward for its time.

To this day I don't know how I feel about this song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GbpnAGajyMc

It gets better with more alcohol that's for certain.

I'll admit I've grown tired of it since it got played to death in the 90s and early aughts at night clubs everywhere, but it's a really good song.

I got sick of the song too. Still doesn't have the same punch as when I first heard it.

But when I went to undergrad, this guy from France brought one of his fav DMR's album and I remember being impressed... can't remember the name of the album tho :eng101:

VH1 has a list of one hit wonders of the eighties that includes Frankie Goes to Hollywood “Relax” at number 10. Not sure how Frankie Goes to Hollywood is a one hit wonder by their criteria but really excellent song. Oh from what I just read I guess its considered a one hit wonder as that was the only song to chart in the USA, in Canada both "Power of Love" and "Two Tribes" charted here as well as the UK. All three are great songs.

Never understood how a band that good, didn't do more after.

Same reason why Claire Forlani never became a huge star in the 90s, sometimes the breaks just don't fall into place.

I'm sure this already got posted but this right here to me is the #1 all time, indisputable one-hit wonder from the 80s. Not only is it a great fucking song, it's quite possibly the greatest video of all time too.

No, scratch that, it IS the greatest music video of all time, full stop.

I've already shared this story but I remember going to a gay bar with some friends and this song came on. EVERYONE sang along at the top of their lungs. Not sure I've ever been in a place where the joy was more palpable in my life.

Eddie and the Cruisers "On the Darkside" oh how I so loved this song in 84.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GgIsyoxZ7Uw

Got a burr on the brain trying to recall this song today, couldn't recall song name or the band. Ended up doing a search for "One hit wonders sounds like Bruce Springsteen" and lo and behold. :D

And didn't realize it but Hallelujah – Leonard Cohen qualifies and is simply one of the greatest songs of all time.

Didn't realize until today that I posted that ah-ha video on the 37th anniversary of its release.

It's funny and also horribly humbling to me that people are waxing nostalgic about the early aughts. I honestly do not remember much of anything pop culture-wise from the 2000s. Now I know how my father felt when he talks about the 70s.
