There needs to be keepers in this league.

Did we ever actually agree on the keeper format?

If not, I have an idea for handling keepers, it sounds complicated but they do it like this in a league my friend is in where some of the members are pretty clueless so it can't be that hard.

Whoever you keep, you give up your pick in that round. So if you picked Crosby in the first last season and you keep him, you lose your first round pick. If you pulled out Semin with a 5th rounder, you can stick with him and not draft in the 5th. So this has the effect of rewarding sleeper/value picks.

Thoughts?

Otherwise we could keep it simple: 3 keepers, only 1 can be a goalie and a 3 year limit on all keepers.

with the members of the pool spread out we better keep it simple and stick to yahoo enforced draft rules.

I sent in my requests for players to keep since Yahoo allowed me to do so...I'm down with whatever. IMO we shouldn't be allowed to keep more than two players.

I'm not sure but I think it is easy to set this up in yahoo.

I'm easy though, whatever works for everybody. But right now it looks like you can keep as many people as you want, we should definitely set a limit.

It is easy we do it in the auction league. What isn't easy is what we tried last year..........I tried to alter the draft order for new managers. That didn't work.

I have to read up on this further. I want keepers as well, we just need to make sure the proper draft pick is forfeited. For instance, if Malletts Bay Militia retains Steve Stamkos, the Militia most certainly should forfeit there 1st round pick.

Compensation should increase on an annual basis as well. For instance, Jonathan Bernier, whom will likely win the Vezina trophy this season, was a late round pick last season. Each year, this should be bumped up with a 3 yr limit on keepers.

I'm going to check with Adam (Puck U), whom runs a baseball league with excellent keeper settings -- perhaps we can carry the same type of format over to the yahoo league.

I'll get back to everyone shortly.

My local keeper league lets everyone pick up to three keepers then based on draft order those who did not hold on to all three keepers draft first till everyone has three players then everyone drafts as normal. Not sure how Yahoo draft handles it but I find that to be a fair system for head to head and points based leagues.

What a pain in the ass ...

Keep track of keeper player costs throughout the season. Hover on the  icon next to a player's name to see these details for keeper players.

All costs must be numerical values and no more than 6 digits in length.

What the hell does that mean? 6 digits in length? How about draft picks?

Sorry guys, I'm going out on the lake & having a few frostys. I'll mess around with this further tonight.

Oh boy ..... I see how this is going to work now.

Guys, if you could kindly submit to me by Saturday, 7 pm eastern:

1) Team name
2) Keeper players - not to exceed 3 total (2 skaters and 1 goalie or 3 skaters).

**Also, you don't HAVE to keep players -- only if you so desire.

Compensation is going to be forfeiting the round in where the player was drafted the previous season (regardless if you acquired the player via trade or not) If the player was undrafted last year & you would like to declare him a keeper, you will forfeit your last round draft pick.

Draft order is going to be based upon last season's standings. (Stanchions picks first unless somebody comes to claim one of the 2 vacated teams)

With that said, it would be nice to get 2 more teams to balance things out at 12 once again. Let me know immediately however, as I really do have to finalize things prior to the draft & manually set the keepers / cost / draft order, so it's going to take a little time. (Otherwise, we would need to postpone the draft until next week).

You can click the previous season on a drop down menu on the main league page & see draft results.

James Reimer was taken in the 23rd round .... probably a good guy to keep if the Professor so desires as he is only forfeiting a 23rd round pick. I'm keeping Bernier & forfeiting the 21st round pick. I'm also probably keeping Tarasenko -- forfeiting the 20th pick.

You guys get the gist of it I suspect at this point.

What happned to Kris Groom anyway -- do you know him Tuzer? I think he has played the past # of years. King Kahn played for 2 years as well, but dropped off the map .... He would be picking 1st overall if he was to re-up, but his team is available to whomever wants it as he hasn't come forward. (Don't have to keep players on his team, but have the option).

Yes; Yahoo "locked" the league at the keeper deadline, but I can still select your 3 guys manually.

I missed Captain's interest until now.

We had 12 teams last year & only 10 this season (KGroom & King Kahn are both out)

I guess it's a little late now though to try to recruit 2 new managers ..... sorry man! Unless we are to push the draft back, but that could mess w- people's plans.

Also - Avmerican; you're cool forfeiting the 1st overall pick for Lundqvist? (You pick 1st as the draft seeding is arranged on last year's standings & the 12th & 11th place clubs got too frustrated to return).
