I was the opposite went after centers early and D late.

I panicked with picking Perry first, but looking at the list, unless I picked a goalie I think it was a good enough choice. More than happy with Toews in the turnaround.

I wanted Kovalchuk at my spot, and thought he'd be there. Butch was too clever for me.

I had my sights on Kovalchuk as my 1st pick since we set the league up - I was holding my breath picking #10 (he was ranked 13 I believe by yahoo) & should he stay healthy this season, I'm predicting a boost in his #'s with the prospect of facing UFA. Hopefully I'm right - I had him ranked highest aside from the trio of Ovechkin, Malkin & Crosby. If not him, I was going after either Iginla or Semin.

Was really hoping that Thornton would still be around for my 3rd pick, but I had to settle on Backes :Butch:

I like Butch's team outside his back up trio of goalies lol.. I dont know squat about head to head strategy.

That would be very suprising if Joe Thornton slipped to the third round.

We did ours last night. 15 teams 16 rounds points only (Shootout goals count) top 12 at least 2 D.

Here's the first round
1. Ovechkin
2. Crosby (me)
3. Malkin
4. Getzlak
5. Thornton
6. Datsyuk
7. Kovalchuk
8. Nash
9. Backstrom
10. Heatly
11. Iginla
12. Semin
13. Parise
14. D.Sedin (they did not get united)
15. Alfreddson

My team:
1. Sidney Crosby ..he or Malkin. I like Crosby's linemates better.
2. Olli Jokinen .. he or Kopitar. Dont let me down OJ
3. Mike Ribeiro ...Hate him but he's a scorer.
4. Andy McDonald ..I like this pick.
5. Chris Kunitz ... I get suckered for Crosby's winger every year..I forgot Krecji was on the board still.. this might kill me.
6. Brenden Morrow Please stay healthy.
7. Kristian Huselius Wanted to be part of CBJ's no.1 line.
8. David Perron ..will start on Mcdonald's wing.. could have a nice combo.
9. Antoine Vermette ..my first ? pick.. not sure if I like it or not. I was thinking Backes.
10. Bill Guerin Might as well get the whole Crosby line. Old as fuck but getting a no.1 liner in round 10 is good value.
11. Matt Niskanen ..my first D.. same strategy as QBs in FFL.. you can get decent D late.
12. Zach Bogosian
13. Drew Doughty
14. Kyle Wellwood My Canucks sleeper.. a bunch of people were talking about him heading towards my pick.. I had to pick him now or never.
15. Kris Russell .. Im hoping two of my four young D rise to the occasion.
16. Ville Leino .. he or Regin in Ottawa.. see what happens.

I'm telling you man; their is a method to my madness! I think we should re-assess this trio of goalies next month - I'm betting that at least one gets the majority of the work in net; maybe even 2.

Thomas & Price will get every opportunity to be #1, but ultimately, the team will have to go with the best goalie - both Rask & Halak have the ability to do just that.

As for the Toronto situation; that was pretty much a given. I wouldn't be suprised to see Toskla waived to clear cap space.

I know its early but I can already tell I made a mistake on passing on Kopitar for Jokinen. I liked Kopitar better too but I switched last second caz i liked Cgy's PP better.

Also HUGE mistake on Kris Russel when I had a clear shot at Goligoski and Kyle Quincey. Two guys I had ranked higher than Russel but I still dont know why I passed on those other D.

Regret Rant: Im officially pissed off at Oli Jokinen. I hate Jokinen and I hate Kopitar for this season until I can draft him. Goddamn it. Im 4th right now , I would be 2nd place and within ear shot if I drafted Kopitar. Cgy has scored 11 goals inthe last 2 games and OJ has ZERO points!! fuck tard. I think he's the 3rd line checker right now. Fugly inbred tardo.

Dude! you're a prophet! well , not that Toronto will win you much , but nonetheless , the MOnster and Rask will be no.1s for a bit. Tim Thomas could have a broken hand! just occured to me , shit , Butch drafted both back ups with the notion of stealing some no.1 time! you just need Carey Price to go down now and you're officially the messiah of drafting.

Well if that's true then maybe some of his Leaf predictions will also come true.
