East

Florida (A1) vs Tampa Bay (WC1) This is going to be a great series.....some monkey business at the end of the season to produce this matchup...I can't believe I will actually watch an all Florida Man series. Tampa in 7.

Boston (A2) vs Toronto (A3) Somehow the Bruins dodged a sure out in Tampa. The Leafs say not this year yet again. Bruins in 6.

Rangers (M1) vs Washington (WC2) Rangers are way too much for the Caps......Rangers in 4. Break out the brooms.

Carolina (M2) vs Islanders (M3) I expect Carolina to be in the East final....I don't know much about the Isles other than they work hard under Roy (and what Chris posts). That might win them a game or 2. Carolina in 6.

West

Dallas (C1) vs Vegas (WC2) LA pulls off some last day magic to avoid Dallas....this one is going to be good. Vegas reveals their cap magic in the playoffs in 7.

Winnipeg (C2) vs Colorado (C3) Don't sleep on the Peg! They are my dark horse to make it to the West finals this year. They will start with the Avs. Peg in 6.

Vancouver (P1) vs Nashville (WC1) I don't think Vancouver is legit. They will have to prove it to me every step of the way (I look forward to that). Nashville in 7.

Edmonton (P2) vs Los Angeles (P3) Edmonton is good this year...I would not be surprised to see an all Canadian West Final. But Vegas will probably ruin that. Oil in 5.

you all are taking TB? That's a very, very complete Panthers team imo.

Jets getting a lot of love as well so far.

2 of the top 10 centres in the league, the best dman, and one of the top 5 goalies and that still leaves you with doubts? The Canucks are legit.

The Preds are very good, but have had a very soft schedule since the all star break with a lot of non playoff bound teams. Its made them look far hotter than they really have been. They are also basically one line for scoring which I'd normally say should make this a cake walk. However the Pred's 5v5 possession numbers are very good and even a slight hair better than the Nucks, and their specialty teams are much better than the Nucks.

This should be close, if the Nucks lose it will be because of either specialty teams or Demko doesn't return to form from his injury. With all the Nucks talent I'm not sure why their PP is not better than it is (20th in the league).

:) Sorry....to me this one has all the makings of the B's first round exit last year but that's just my opinion. I am more than happy to eat crow! ;) I don't see this team being much removed from the team that seriously under performed the previous year. Ricky has them playing well but they are going to need to win a round to gather my attention. Nashville is going to bring the grit. So this is my upset pick.

Welcome back to the playoffs for the Nucks anyway......I know its been a bit and it is very exciting to get back in the dance!

I think the Avalanche and Knights are softer targets in west than the Nucks. Especially in goal.

Since the All-Star break, yes. Overall, no.

Power-Play %
NSH - 21.6%
VAN - 22.7%

Penalty Kill %
NSH - 76.9%
VAN - 79.1%

I suppose this depends on how much one buys into the notion of momentum. Overall the Canucks have been pretty average since the break and the Preds won 16 in a row.

Let's go!

The Preds rank #5 in hits for the year, the Nucks #4, plus they're bigger. I don't think the Preds grit is going to be a concern.

.....and the Avs rank last..........

whoa................a Logical Progression sighting, good to see you back LP.

And everyone has the Jets, except for the guy from NY and he's short enough to be easily overlooked, and therefore not interfere with my simplistic sampling assumptions.

I also don't know shit about the western conference. The games are played after I go to bed.

Being an Islanders fan shows I don't know shit about the eastern conference either.

Good luck boys! The positive is that most of us around here have skin in the game this year. But even though Quebec is not represented there is a good Canadian presence this year with some real potential to go deep.
