He couldn't have. Mario said like 10 years ago that he would leave the NHL if teams brought in guys who did things like that. Mario, whose team employed Matt Cooke, Letang, Talbot... Are you calling Mario a hypocrite?

Game 6 tonight. Win it at the Coliseum! :mulletbutch:

Good back and forth series. Isles have the Pens on the ropes!

They need to KO them tonight. Don't want to go to Pittsburgh for a Game 7.

Isles with 9000 fans tonight. Obivous joke- more than usual...

It's Barzal's birthday. He's 24. Hopefully he's got a few birthday points coming.

Wahlstrom is a "game time decision". Please. If a player was missing a leg an NHL team would take them to take a few warmup laps to throw the other team off for a Game 6. I can't see him playing after that hit. Knee and/or head/neck.

Zajac likely in for Wahlstrom. I'd prefer Dal Colle, as he's a pain in the ass when forechecking, but I get that having an extra center/PK guy could be big. Also of course, "veteran" status...

Weird 6:30 start.

Just fucking win it! :viking:

2-2 after 1. Each team scored on its first shot on a 2 on 1. Weird shit. Pens first, then Isles.

Malkin hit Martin really hard along the boards, knocking Martin down. Mayfield came in and nailed Malkin from behind, which was called a crosscheck. Pens scored on that PP.
Palmieri scored a few minutes later to answer back, again.

Now get a fucking lead and end this shit. :viking:

Went down 3-2 early in the 2nd, and then scored 3 quick ones (2 in 13 seconds- a franchise record) to take a 5-3 lead into the third. Pens have burned their timeout already.

Pulock given a bullshit elbowing call. His elbow was on Guentzel's head as they went to the boards together, but Guentzel's helmet didn't appear to be buckled before it went flying off, and was certainly undone as it fell. Does Pulock have fingers on his elbow? Was he in the fucking circus before the NHL?

Nelson with 2 goals and Pulock with a blast for his 2nd of the playoffs, after having just 2 all season.

Time for the boring clamp down!

 :toot: :viking: Shame Nelson couldn't net the hat trick or Barzal score on his birthday, but still a great game overall!

Statistically the Pens were better than they showed, but their goaltending let them down. If only they could get Fleury back...

And Sorokin stepped up when Varlamov faltered. Kid went 4-0 and certainly stole Game 5 for them. And Game 1. Wasn't terrible or amazing tonight. Got the job done.

Now, do they ride Sorokin into Boston or go back to Varlamov?

Isles and Bruins haven't met in the playoffs since 1983.

Combining the 2 series the Isles and Pens have played in the past 3 years, here are some interesting stats:

10 GP, 1 G, 2 A, even - Leo Komarov
10 GP, 1 G, 2 A, -6 - Crosby

Edit- bugger, we don't have a gray font or white backgrounds. Oh well.

Boston vs Long Island feels like a classic kind of series that should've happened more in their heydays. I'm looking forward to it.

Read some other interesting bits.

Last time Isles won a round on Coliseum ice was in 93 when they went to the ECFs. (Fuck Dale Hunter)
Last time the Isles & Bruins met was in 83 when the Isles won the Cup for the 4th time.
Last time a non-Bruins fan had something nice to say about Marchand was in 73, before he was even born.
