Wash up 2-1.

Did anyone else see Ovi KO the rookie Svechnikov? Yikes.

Man, playoff fights are usually intense but nothing too big on the damage side because it's not the usual guys who fight. Looked like Svechnikov was asking for a scrap in the replay. Sucks to see the kid get hurt like that.

Sucks ass, he shouldn't have picked that fight. And I just hate fighting in general.

IIRC both Ray Bourque and Mario Lemieux got destroyed in fights early in their respective careers, so it happens. But I just think it's a useless and unnecessary (and kinda ridiculous given that everyone now wears visors and can't remove helmets) sideshow that delays the actual game.

Kinda ironic that the momentum seemed to shift entirely to Carolina after that. But I think in all seriousness that the fight probably had little if nothing to do with the outcome of the game and we append too much importance to the thuggery that takes place between whistles.

Yes, I did see it. I haven't seen a knockout like that since Joey Kocur knocked out Jim Kyte.

Looked like Svechnikov initiated. I thought Ovi looked freaked out in the box afterwards. I think he knew the kid was really hurt.

Gutsy win by the Stormers last night. Not the cakewalk the Caps were hoping for.

Warren Foegele starts things up with a fantastic goal roughly 20 seconds into the game, he ends things with a really dirty hit from behind that ends up injuring T.J. Oshie.

Ovi reached out to the kid to see if he's okay. Said you never want to see anyone get hurt, etc. Classy moves.

This one pushed to seven. Based on how things have gone so far the champs should be afraid.

Then again they were killer on the road last year.

If Washington loses I believe history will be made again: All four division winners will be OUT in the first round.
