The real toss-ups for me are Bruins/Leafs and Sharks/Knights.

The Jets are limping so badly to the finish line so I have a good feeling about the Blues, but I'd still consider it a major upset.

I don't know how common this is, but other than the Habs, all the teams with a positive goal differential made the playoffs, so no weird -2 team squeaked in.

Tampa vs Columbus: Bolts sweep.....where does Panera bread end up? 17-3 during the regular season. Ow!
Bruins vs Leafs B's in 6........Leafs are a f'n trainwreck but they still have Freddy Anderson. Leafs have to slay the beast some day but it won't be this year.
Caps vs Canes Caps in 6.....Silly, fan friendly celebrations are the highlight of this one. Spot the Whalers jerseys!
Isles vs Pens Pens in 7.......Its the Isles Vs Sydney.....Sydney wins. Will watch because I have a secret soft spot for teams that are habitually mismanaged.

West

Flames vs Avs Flames sweep and I am there to revel in it. Johnny explodes and Mike Smith is adequate (in reality the Avs probably win 1 because its hard to bottle up MacKinnon for that long).
Jets vs Blues Blues in 7. My favorite matchup of the 1st round. I will try to watch this one and not hit a Tim Hortons. What a Maroon is also a Blue.
Preds vs Stars Stars in 6. Don't like the Preds or their rude fanbase. The only time I watched the Stars was when they doing the cupid shuffle on Calgary's ass. Don't care for this country music hoedown.
Sharks vs Golden Knights Sharks in 7. 830 start times...might see about 15 minutes of this one which will probably be a shame.


The good thing is that Calgary and Boston play on the same nights in the first round so I only have to endure every other night sleep deprivation.

But the first round is for men (persons of strong resolve for the tolerant types) and even though there are 8pm start times you have to suck it up! Now I wouldn't be saying that if I lived on the East Coast! 10pm is too late for a hockey game!
