The first time an expansion team has made the Stanley Cup Finals in it's first year of existence since St. Louis did it in 1968. St. Louis only had to get past the other 5 expansion teams to reach the Finals that year. Montreal swept them 4 - 0. It is Washington's first Finals in 20 years and it will be Alex Ovechkin's first Finals. I'm going with Vegas. They play a really hard forecheck, can skate like the wind, score in bunches along with a 3X Stanley Cup Champion in goal.

What an unexpectedly amazing Cup final. No one could've predicted Vegas, and few at this point thought Ovi and the Caps would get their shot. This is going to be a fast and fun series with incredible goaltending.

I guess I'm going with Vegas, which will surely doom them.

If you had wagered $1,000 before the season, you'd be half a million dollars richer ( if they win )

I hear Vegas is actually favored in this series

Awesome matchup. Wednesday the CF ended, so Saturday would be a perfect start. But nope. Start on fucking Monday.

And the one time the NHL decided NOT to wait their stupid requisite waiting period(and blatantly fucking lying to the Wings), it was an early start with back-to-back(first time for that since the 50s) Fri-Sat starts for Wings-Pens in '09 when Wings were conveniently limping pretty badly into the Finals and the extra rest would have been huge. Not that I still think the NHL was a bunch of fucking idiots for that after almost 9 years or anything...

I wonder if a lopsided amount of locals betting has an effect on that?

When I heard the 500:1 odds and saw the expansion draft methodology, I thought I'd put $10 on them last summer. Of course, I forgot about it... Really wish I had!

I hope Vegas wins. I don't want to see Tom fucking Wilson lift the Cup.

Give me the Caps in 6. The Golden Knights have been unbeatable but Ovechkin has gone to the next level. Hoping for some Lebron-calibre domination from Ovi.

Didn't make any prediction so not really fair to now. This Vegas team...

How ironic would it be if Vegas the team hastens in the demise of Vegas the establishment

I've heard some local Vegas high-rollers put down some sizeable hometown bets when it was 500:1. It's unsubstantiated of course, but it would give me quite a chuckle to see casinos have to pay out at 500:1. But I still don't see them going under. Those places print money.

And Bosc- it's 1-1. Who do you think takes 3/5 now?

Don't count on your 500 to 1 winning ticket just yet: the Caps might dash those hopes.

Ovechkin and Kuznetsov are on another level right now. Carlson and Holtby are rock solid. All the team you need.

You are correct, Sir. Although Las Vegas really hasn't looked the team that they displayed in the first three rounds. That very well may be down to Washington having figured out how to stifle and frustrate Vegas. The games have all been top notch and that is what you should always like to see in a Stanley Cup Finals if you are a neutral.

It would appear that Trotz and Co. have figured out the Vegas north south game and best counter attack.

On Defense leave the outside shot, all players to protect net players collapse like an accordian - active sticks grab the garbage first and clear the net.

Play the body hard in all zones and in offense zone -- use your magic.

Vegas is cheating, looking for the quick counter making many mistakes. The size of the stage has caught up to them.

I haven’t seen the last couple games but Fleury hasn’t been the 2nd best goalie in any round up until now. He’s certainly not the goat here but he’s no longer invincible either.

Yup, this is exactly what's happening. Vegas doesn't have time and space to make their plays.

We're one game from Alex Ovechkin winning a cup and Evgeni Kuznetsov winning a Conn Smythe. Wow. Back to the drawing board, copycat GMs.

So it appears Wild Bill is nursing an injury, and Marchessault hasn't been much of a factor, whether that has to do with Tom Wilson's super-late blindside hit, who knows. :psyduck:

Fleury has to play the game of his life tonight. Only way Vegas hangs on, but I could see him pull it off.

During the pregame warmup a little gamesmanship ensues. Ovechkin crosses the center line and gives Fleury a love tap to the pads, which was not taken too kindly by Marc-Andre. The next lap Fleury does the exact same thing to Ovi, to which he gives a little chuckle.

Does that shit really work? Good times.
