Gardiner had a super-rough outing and Rielly had a bad series but that's to be expected when the opposition can key in on you because they know your defensive partner can't do anything with the puck. Toronto needs to address that and soon. Why did they sign Zaitsev for so long? I don't think he was horrid this season but even when he was good he didn't look like someone worth a near-max term deal.
Also, for all the poo flung at Gardiner (and some at Auston Matthews), Freddy Andersen was inexcusably bad last night. That DeBrusk goal was absolutely horrid. I'm guessing Garret Sparks will be the #2 guy going into next season and they get to see what he can do.
