Preds take two at United Center, and they shut out the Hawks both times.

Could this be Smashville's year? Johansen was a beast last game. Rinne looks like himself again, finally.

The Preds are locked in right now. Didn't see that coming - wouldn't it be great if they could finally get over the curse of Chicago.

This series reminds me of the 2011 Hawks versus the Canucks first round matchup where the Nucks slayed the dragon with last minute Burrows game 7 OT heroics, after being up 3-0 in the series.

You just know this Championship team isn't going down without a fight. But zero (i.e. 0) goals at home! Really? Something's up.

I'm not counting Chicago out. Fuckers came back from being down 3 - 1 to Detroit in our last series in the Western Conference. I had the displeasure of being at Game 6 where they came back to tie the series up 3 - 3. Fuckers, fuckers, fuckers...

Pekka Rinne allowed one even-strength goal in four games. If he keeps it up, I like the Preds' chances.

The most surprising result of the 1st round. I did not see this coming. I really thought this Chicago team had a real chance to win their 4th Stanley Cup this year.

Josi-Ekholm-Subban-Ellis might go down as one of the greatest top-4's in NHL history. They play 25 mins a night each, which is a bit strange. The 5-6 guys basically don't exist.

Yes but how will that serve them as playoff demands endure?

Pretty good if they're beating teams in 4 games and resting up!

Not so sure that's a good thing. I've seen plenty of instances where sitting around and doing nothing while waiting for the next opponent can be seriously detrimental to further playoff success.

Hawks really had terrible depth issues from the start. I mean, c'mon, Panik at the Disco was one of their top scoring wingers for a good portion of the year! A mix of sustained success, cap issues, a weakened prospect base, and some outright dumb moves by Bowman (signing Brent Seabrook long term, trading away a decent young player for five minutes of Andrew Ladd) are catching up to them.

Anyhow, now that the Wylde are out I don't care who wins. Even if it's the goddamn Ducks I'll be fine with it. It'd be cool to see someone completely new win it all but that's about it for me.

I was just making a joke strictly about the ice time thing.

The whole rest between series thing...I'm sure that there are instances where it helps or hurts but it's hard to quantify or pinpoint it as a major reason because there are so many other factors. It reminds me of when the league jump-started the 2009 Finals with Datsyuk hurt, Bettman lied to Illitch about how much time there was going to be before the series was going to start, and then they scheduled a Friday-Saturday back-to-back to open the series. Did the short rest help the banged-up Wings because they actually won those two games? Or did it hurt in the long run by gassing them more?
