At a time when, as others have said, Major League Baseball is in a dark place we lose one of the great gentlemen and players of all-time, Al Kaline. Kaline died on April 6, 2020, at age 85. A Hall of Famer had 3,007 base hits, 399 home runs and a W.A.R. of 92.8. Kaline could also be counted on to be one of the humblest gentlemen the game ever knew. It is sad that he won't be able to be honoured in the way he truly deserved because of the ongoing COVID Pandemic. But, I think Kaline would have wanted it this way. He never would have wanted a fuss made over him. So long, Al, thanks for helping to make a young boy's dreams come true in 1968.

RIP to Al Kaline, who as Skip and everyone else says was a true gentleman and ambassador for the game.

That's a shame....as someone who really got into baseball when I was younger I am familiar with the 1968 Tigers.

Quote:
And then the end: "In lieu of flowers or donations, the Kaline family asks that you reach out to someone you love and check in on them during this unprecedented and challenging time of need, and to be sure to thank our military, police, fire/EMS and front line care givers in any way you can."

Classy.
