Raonic vs Roger in one semi, Berdych and Murray in the other.
After being down 2-0 sets, Roger pulls of the huge comeback versus Cilic in his quarterfinal match. Would love to see Roger win one more major to solidify his legacy but it's been 4 years since he's won one and his game has plateaued. He seems unable elevate any further and was lucky to beat Cilic on pure fan adrenaline. He is 35 years old mind you.
Uh, that is elevating his game. He's tracking down balls better than anyone remaining (save maybe Murray) and his serve looks as strong as a weapon as it ever has. He stunk for two sets and found his game. He did need an error-filled tiebreak in the 4th but I'm betting on Roger in a tiebreak vs. Milos, too. His forehand lets him down a lot more than it used to, that's the main difference from Roger today to Roger in his prime. But I'm all in on Roger this tournament. He's gonna win. And he'll win a title at an age older than Agassi was when he won his last major (Aussie '03, 32.7) and almost as old as Agassi was in the '05 US Open Final vs Roger.
Serena is definitely chasing ghosts at this point. Time for her to equal Steffi and start to lay claim on the title of greatest singles player of all time.
Yes but can he sustain it? Roger plays a beautiful game and I hope he wins - just have this hunch it's Raonic's time. He clearly has more tools in his bag of tricks than he had a year ago and has become a very well rounded player. Big second serve, better net cover volley, improved footwork. He handled Roger pretty easily earlier in the year in Brisbane (6-4, 6-4).
Anyways waiting for either of them on the other side will be Andy Murray. No slouch and clear favorite should he advance past Berdych.
