Jesus. You're in a playoff race holding a wildcard spot and this is a guy that you're planning on having there long term. You fucking take him out.

You can't take a guy out during a no-hitter. You just...can't.

Yeah you most definitely can.

Jays fans throw hats for Donaldson's "hat trick" of 3 home runs. Awesome.

Yeah, they did that last year too(Aug 29 last year, Aug 28th this year) when Edwin launched 3. I love it.

Cubs are 83-47. That's nuts.

Couple of great divisional races to watch out for: Dodgers/Giants in the NL West and Jays/Sox in the AL East

What's amazing too about the Cubs is how young their position players are.

I guess Theo Epstein really is that smart.

Awesome!

Not awesome: Jays. Except for Devon Travis, who is awesome. Dude's gotten on base 28 times in September batting 9th and 1st, and has crossed the plate all of 6 fucking times.

Jose Fernandez

And that brings us back to Fernandez and Palmer, and a day that began and ended horribly. Sometimes 24 hours is simply not enough, and too much, all at the same time, and then you’re left to remember that the days for all of us are too few.

Jose Fernandez was not someone you had to remind yourself to humanize. He was not a player you had reduced to an on-field construct because that’s just how we have to compartmentalize everything. No, no, goodness no. He was so radiant that when he’s ripped away, you almost have to force yourself to remember the talent. How well he played the sport is the afterthought because all you can think about at first is the joy.

My god, the joy.

...

He was a constant reminder of just how fun everything can be. Now he’s an eternal reminder of how that’s always just on loan, and how we'll always be reduced to remembering it in the past tense, happy it existed at all. Rest in peace, Jose Fernandez. Rest in peace, and thank you for the joy.

Fernandez remains the favourite to win the NL Cy Young.

Meanwhile, the Giants suffered a Canadiensesque 2nd half collapse. Hanging on to the last WC spot with a week remaining.

Giants once again showed up when it counted, trouncing the already-clinched Dodgers to make the Wild Card game.

I actually think the G-men will dash the Cubs' dreams. Get ready for even year mojo.

1. Posey is finally getting hot after being unlucky in the BABIP department all season
2. Bumgarner and Cueto will be pitching half the time
3. Batting lineup 1-8 healthy

Jays offense has shit their way into the wild card after an absolutely brutal final month+

Starting pitching has been amazing. Sanchez is an absolute stud and has Russ Martin worked his magic again with Liriano? That trade is looking even better.

We could see some old guard lunacy with the awards this year.

Watch as closer Zach Britton gets the AL Cy Young with 67IP while Kershaw doesn't get nearly as many votes because he didn't start enough games or pitch enough innings with 149 innings in 21 starts.

Watch as David Ortiz, named as one of the players who tested positive in the supposed-to-be anonymous testing back in 2003, gets more votes from the same people who haven't put in Jeff Bagwell into the HOF for nothing more than being big in the steriod era, than Mike Trout, who was his insane self yet again while playing an actual position, CF no less. Because he couldn't make one of the worst starting pitching staffs in the league a whole lot better. Not only that, he had the gall not to ignite the other 8 guys in his lineup to be better hitters.

Post subject:  Re: 2016 MLB season

You can add to the lunacy now-resigned Rockies manager Walt Weiss, who benched 2nd baseman D.J. Lemahieu the final week of the season just so he could win the NL batting title.

Rockies made some decent steps toward actually rebuilding instead of continuing to spin their wheels under Jeff Bridich, now they need to make a good hire here. Apparently Triple-A affiliate manager Glenallen Hill has the inside track. I'm not opposed to that, but like the Avs were until recently the Rox are an overly-insular organization. They need to bring people in from outside to shake things up a bit.

Former Rockies Ace (and without a doubt their best pitcher ever) Ubaldo Jimenez on the other end of that glorious walk-off homer.

I don't get it...you have the best lights-out closer in MLB and you choose to send out an aging starter in relief in an extraordinarily important game? Might be the very worst decision I've seen a manager/coach make when it mattered the most.

Welp, the Jays' bats outside of Donaldson decided to take off the series against the Clevelands. They had their chances to put away Kluber early in game 1 to get their best starter out of the way but didn't do it. Then they haven't done anything against the rest of the patchwork staff outside of Miller and Allen. Really disappointing.
