Jays one of the all time worst? I dunno. 2 World Series in 39 years isn't awful. And considering the number of titles won by the other teams in the same division over the same period, it makes things a little tougher. It has been a rough stretch since 1993, but that still has quite a bit to do with the division that they've played in.

Cheapish tickets for today's Jays game. Fickle fans already off the bandwagon.

I would hardly call the Royals one of the all-time worst franchises. Perhaps in your living memory they have been constant losers but their history is much richer than the results of the past 20 years. In the late 1970's, the 1980's through the mid-1990's they were almost always a winning team. Almost annually they were the old American League West Division Champion contenders and they went to the World Series twice in 5 years and won it once in 1985.

The Mets are hardly storied but are hardly horrible either. Word Series Champions in 1969 and 1986 with additional appearances in 1973 and 2000.

The Blue Jays had quite a team from the mid-1980's through the 1990's when they won back to back World Series Championships.

I'll give you the poor Cubs.

Cubs should have a huge future ahead of them, though. Tons of cheap, young, productive and star or soon to be star players, and tons of money to spend.

For sure. To be fair, the Cubs were actually a bit early this year. They weren't expected to contend yet.

Yup. Houston as well? Mets too? Texas and Cards killed by injuries but still made it in.

A good friend of mine is a Cubs fan first, and a huge Jays fan too. Went to game 5 against Texas. Great year of baseball for him even though the Cubs lost.

All these previously rebuilding teams bouncing back so quickly make me even more bitter as a Rox fan.

Better luck next time, Jays. Royals pushed last year's World Champions to the last batter, so I expected them to be hungry. They'll steamroll the young Mets.

I feel bad for Tulo. Dude deserves his ring.

At least David Price finally pitched a decent postseason game.

Tonight's pitching matchup is going to be hairy!

Rogers and Toronto sports' toxic, executive-obsessed culture strikes again. Last year they tried to quietly replace Beeston with Kenny Williams or Dan Duquette and it blew up in their faces. This year they brought in Mark Shapiro and promised him personnel powers while AA was still there putting together a contender.

Yup. If bringing him in was a done deal, how the fuck did they not have a very clear understanding of what direction he wanted to take the team and get that communicated to Beeston and AA as "don't fucking trade anything"? A fucking clown show.

Wonder if he was told he would not get the budget he wanted to work with for next year?

Power/autonomy I'm guessing. I think Beeston basically let Alex run the team show as he saw fit while Beeston took care of the business side. Shapiro came in sounding like he disagrees with how Alex has done some things, and Alex was probably not going to have nearly the control that he did before.

Congrats to KC. I wanted to see the Mets win but oh well. Mets are probably going to have a fire sale now.

Might be for the best: Cespedes and Murphy are going to be overpaid this offseason.

The Mets have a good one in Conforto.
