Damn, Montreal really needed that one. Eugenie's going to win a Major eventually.

Eventually may come pretty darn quick. Top 3 seeds have been eliminated and next up is an aging Sharopova. Really didn't think she was going to pull out the win in the quarter final. Her game fell apart in the 2nd set and she put herself in a hole in the 3rd. Once she was far enough behind it seemed she got over her nerves and the unforced errors and just took command.

Euginie got a much easier path today with Serena getting knocked off. Hopefully she'll have another meeting with Sharapova in the quarter finals.

7-6, 6-2 Genie through to the finals. So constrained with the semi win, happy to have done it but still down to finsish business as she is here for the finals win.

She's quickly becoming quite the star. Chris Evert and Maritina Navritlova are absolutely glowing in their praise of her, the whole Jim Parson's thing in her family seats, and the fans and media adore her. Evert figures her to be the favorite on Saturday.

C'mon Milos make it two for two.

Comes back in the tiebreak in the first set then takes the second 6-2 over Simona Halep to advance to the Wimbledon Finals!

From the mean streets of Westmount to the top of Wimbledon. Here we go!

She's changing the women's game by aggressively stepping into her first serve returns. She's the Patrick Roy of women's tennis.

She missed a few way outside(I remember a couple specifically in the first set tiebreak, but they might not have been first serve returns) and on first serves being aggressive. She's fun to watch.

Hard to believe that I went to a major just 7 majors ago and she didn't qualify for it.

Don't forget that Raonic is the only guy in the men's top 10 right now that is under 25. Dmitrov really is his closest rival in that sense. Still, Novak and Murray will be around for a few years yet. Whether Milos can win now or not is another question, but if he can keep this up he's on pace to be the top men's player at some point in time.

I think this is Eugenie's time to take her first Grand Slam. Granted she'll be in tough against former Wimbledon champ Kvitova but if Bouchard can exploit Kvitova's lacking foot speed and adjust to the awkwardness of playing the left hander, she should be fine. Hopefully she's learned from the Aus open how to close those big points.

On another note, Raonic through to the semi-final and will be in tough against my favorite tennis player (and athlete) of ALL TIME - Roger Federer. Sorry Canada, I am pulling for Feds in this one. I was fortunate to see him play live in Indian Wells at the Paribas Open earlier this and amazed at the athleticism, grace and feel with which Roger plays game. His pure talent level is unparalleled. He makes a very diffucult game look damn easy. It would be nice to see him pull out one more major title in his career. Nevertheless, although Raonic has never beaten Roger, he still has a very good chance of advancing to his first grand slam final here at the all England Club.

Federer makes quick work of Milos in straight sets. Milos's game is still a bit one dimensional. He has the big serve but against elite level talent, his lack of foot speed is exposed and he needs to work on his backhand and more diversified shot selection.

Good result though and he is improving -- albeit slowly.

He had nerves, gotten broken on his first serve and couldn't get back into it. He'll never have the foot speed but his length helps to compensate somewhat. He may manage to win one grand slam but I don't think he'll ever have a complete enough game to be a dominant player. With that server though, he'll always have a chance.

Kvitova is dialled in right now does not look good for Bouchard. Every thing is hard and on good angles.

edit: and as soon as I say that Bouchard breaks her. good jinx.

second edit: the lapse was short lived Kvitova is clobbering it again.

Yes, this is hard too watch, not good tennis. 3-6, 0-2 at this point and it's looking like its going to be a quick one for Kvitova

Well that's that, she'll be winning a major within the next year though. C'mon Pospisl, last Canadian hope.

It was great tennis. Basically a perfect match by Kvitova.

Daniel Nestor made the mixed semi-finals, Raonic the semis, Genie the finals and Pospisil gets the win with his first time ever partner. Last years Davis cup run was the best thing to ever happen to Canadian tennis but this week would have to surpass that.

Yikes, Eugenie loses to a player ranked in the 200's in the second round of her hometown tournament.
