Sinclaire with the hat trick. 15 minutes left. Normally hate soccer but what a great game by an amazing athlete

two absolutely bizarre calls by the ref for US penalty kicks. And the US ties up, tough enough to beat the US then they have to best the ref as well

xtra time, we'll see who is fitter. With the ref muffing the last out bounds play and turning it into a corner kick for the US she continues to be the wildcard

Amy Wombach was apparently counting in the ref's face the entire game how long McLeod was holding onto the ball. Any ref worth their stones would've yellow carded Wombach for complaining about calls. Unbelievable.

For the record, Hope Solo had 8 violations of the 6 second rule compared to 6 for Erin McLeod. I can guarantee you the ref never once counted to 1 for Solo.

watched all the match from the second half on and was miffed, but with a grain of salt at the time as I was talking the commentators word for it and was watching a Canadian broadcast and do not know for sure how odd that call was.

Since read some commentary and comments from European's that saw the game and as well know what is normal for soccer and yeah seems the Canadians got screwed. Don't think it was a fix though, just think it was a weak ref that was intimidated into making a really brutal call by powerhouse players on a powerhouse team.

Ironic that the biggest American star out of these Olympics might not be Michael Phelps or Gabby Douglas but McKayla "Not Impressed" Maroney. Rather than sulk about being made into an Internet punchline, she's running with it.

Not summer olympics-related, but enough of a WTF headline to post here.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/br ... 2424.story

Quote:
“The final time, he came to me not only as a coach but as an elder and a fellow Korean,” Cho said. “In Asian culture when an elder asks you to do something very difficult, to deny the request, no matter how ridiculous it might sound at the time … I had a lot of pressure from that.”

Proof positive that Koreans are crazy (we are, don't kid yourself) and Korean-Americans are REALLY crazy.
