Congrats, Donald Sterling, you are without a doubt the worst owner in professional sports.

Imagine being Doc Rivers or Chris Paul and having to work for that man. Ugh.

Doc Rivers and Chris Paul are multi-millionaires and can choose to leave anytime they wish, my heart bleeds piss for them. I do on the other hand have sympathy for the minimum wages types without options and can't say 'fuck you Don'

Tough spot for the GM of that team to be in moving forward if the guy doesn't sell.

I guess racism shouldn't be funny but my lord an eighty year old married racist guy with a twenty year old mistress that is mixed race and the sound of his voice...sorry it is kinda funny.

Anybody else see the LA writer who said he should sell the Clippers & buy an NHL team? What a moron.

It is dumb because in his mind, he prefers 'owning' minorities rather than white guys. Because he literally thinks he owns his skilled labour and not that he owns a franchise which employs skilled contractors.

He's got the plantation mentality.

Don't forget Sterling once used his pull to help his son beat a murder rap. His son OD'd last year.

Marge Schott. She sold her team 3 years after her lifetime ban.

Other baseball owners have been banned for a lifetime for gambling.

Wasn't Steinbrenner banned for something?

Various things, I think 3 times. He had a lifetime ban but it was lifted. They were going over owner bans yesterday on the radio.

Figured it was time to change the title of this thread since gun-toting wackos are in all walks of life these days.

Whitlock's take on the Sterling ban. Apologies for the annoying-as-hell autoplay video.

http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/10857 ... ur-culture

While I agree with him to a point, I don't see what other recourse the NBA had here. They couldn't possibly move forward with this scumbag continuing in his present role. One hopes he doesn't fight, but it's likely he will. Unfortunately in pure legal terms, I think he has a case here.

That said, I don't like the gushing going on about Adam Silver here, as if he's some sort of hero. Fact of the matter is, an avowed bigot was allowed to own and run an NBA franchise, and was even given one (almost two) lifetime achievement awards by the NAACP. This guy could have, and should have, been railroaded out a long time ago, but too many people turned a blind eye until incontrovertible evidence of his idiocy was presented to the public.

A pro sports team that no players will want to play for will be a depreciating asset as the team starts losing.

That's really one last damaging piece of evidence against Stern than it has anything to do with Silver, then.

The Spurs were something special this season. Poetry in motion.

If that's "poetry" it's poetry written by Kristen Stewart. :chairshot:

I think my overall ambivalence toward the NBA started when the Spurs leapt to prominence. Few teams get away with more embellishment (yeah, YOU, Shamu Ginobili) and blatant fouls, and yet none whine and bitch more the few times they actually do get called. Fuck them.

I would have rather seen the Heat win. I hate them too, but San Antonio plays an unbearable brand of basketball.

No denying their talent or their coaching--it's all elite, but after growing up watching the heydays of Magic/Bird, not to mention the Denver Nuggets sporting some amazing scorers, this is far worse than sitting through even the worst the Dead Puck Era can offer.

You don't enjoy them finding open shooters at the last moment all the time? I mean, I prefer quick-strike open play basketball but you simply aren't going to get that at this level in any kind of way, so running an offence that is unpredictable is something else to watch.
