Pettersson passes Nilsson and Forsberg as best junior to ever play in the SHL

Well, if there is one thing the organization is confident in selling at this point -- it's hope.

Nucks may be the lowest scoring team next year, but will have the best vaudeville act.

Not just the anointed one, but the gilded one as well. :viking:

10 points in 4 games for playoff finals, 19 points in 13 playoff games and playoff MVP.

Best prospect for the Nucks since Bure.

Very impressive performance at both ends of the ice for Pettersson tonight - 7 goals in 7 games. The kid has a great mind for the details of the game.

9 in 9 games including a 5 point night against McKinnon's Avs. Honestly i would have been happy with a G and a helper... but a 5 point night? Normally, a 2G2A night from Boeser would be the lead story... but the Alien is indeed otherworldly...

Rookie of the month for October and gets a jumpstart two days into November...

Phenomenal performance last night. Never separate him and Boeser.

Hopefully this latest injury isn't serious. It doesn't sound like it, otherwise we would've heard something.

The kid's hockey sense is off the charts. He's obviously not big and not that strong, and he's not blessed with blazing speed by any means, but he somehow makes himself plenty of room to operate. I do hope he heads to a trainer this offseason to bulk up a little though.

This is probably old news to some of you but apparently the Rangers traded for the 7th overall pick with the belief that Pettersson would still be there when their turn came up. Needless to say the other Swede they ended up picking (Andersson) hasn't had quite the same impact.

I actually didn't know that. Wonder who they thought Vancouver would pick instead and if they offered Vancouver a deal for the 5th pick.

What we did know from the advanced stats guys was that Pettersson based on his history was off the charts, his closest comparable was Peter Forsberg. Being as small as he is, and without a lot of data made him more risky then those ahead of him but his high end potential was extremely high.

If I recall some of the pre-draft hype analysis, Cody Glass was supposed to go a little higher, and Gabriel Vilardi tumbled from his expected draft spot as well, but I'm not sure just how high he was projected to go. In the latter's case the concerns about his durability appear to have been well-founded.

I guess they just assumed the kid's draft stock would get hurt by his lack of size and not-top-notch speed a little more than it was.

Much as I am looking forward to Cale Makar in Colorado, if the Avs had opted for Pettersson they'd be leading the Central division right now by a fair bit.

Without a doubt. And the Canucks are short right shot offensive defenseman PP specialists in their development ranks so there's that. Here's hoping Quinn Hughes is a start....but early signs seem muted.
