Well, if you believe the rumo(u)rs, they were in on Karlsson. :clint:

I suppose they're just waiting out guys like Edler/Del Zotto, which will free up a ton of cap room if neither is retained. To be fair to JB, there really wasn't much out there as far as blueliners go I don't think. And while it may take some time yet they should still keep roster flexibility on the back end so that eventually they can incorporate Hughes and Juolevi.

Fair point, it's just frustrating to see the precise down to the minute injury issues at play with Tavev and Edler again. Hutton has dramatically improved his play over last season and is eating 25-30 mins which is a good story, so at least there's that.

Canucks just beat the Bruins 8-5 on the road with an injury depleted roster and no Brock Boeser. Yes 8-5. They are now the highest scoring team in the league with 57 goals for. D nowhere to be found but what the hell is going on? Green's one hell of a coach.

The Nucks have lost 4 in a row. Petterssen not scoring, sky is falling!

I actually don't mind, was happy to see them play well as it bodes well for the future. But I won't be unhappy if they fall back into draft lottery range as it allows me to maintain my fantasy of the two Hughes brothers in the same lineup. Whatever direction they go for the rest of year works fine for me.

Agreed. Their organizational depth isn't enough to overcome the rash of injuries this team has faced through 20 games in relation to their place on the developmental curve. Expect to see quite a drop in victories through November and December and then a resurgence in the new year.

Speaking of injuries, they are really piling up throughout the league at the moment.

Carey Price at his best in his home province.

This game was there for the taking for the Canucks and they found a way to lose it after leading 2-1 late into the 3rd.

Lucky ricochet off Shaw's skate served as the equalizer and seemed to stun the team, followed by MDZ's late hit on Kotkaniemi and subsequent Habs PP late into the 3rd, which cost the Canucks the game.

What a moron. Get him out of the league. He's a useless, confused defender and until Benning does something about the D corps, this team is going nowhere. Totally understand why Green scratched him for 8 games to begin the season. Edler should coming back soon thank christ (can't believe I'm actually saying that). Price was solid but not the difference maker. The Canucks had most trouble with the Habs neutral zone cover and counter on their PP. Pettersson gets his 11th of the season off a one-timer from the slot so at least there's that.

Would rather them waive Del Zotto at this point and give Brisebois some quality games with the big club. O is having a strong start to the season at least offensively thus far (13 points in 18 games) but still needs to learn to defend down low and needs more time in Utica. Maybe towards the end of the season he will get a look. Hughes too.

The Canucks schedule is ridiculous this season. 14 of their first 21 games were on the road -- that's 2/3rds of their games through the first quarter of the season most back east, with very little rest between games. They were the fastest team to 20 games by a margin. The Gillis regime used to lobby the league for a better schedule making given their north west location and it actually worked.

Doesn't seem to be a priority for the current regime. Takes more than decent drafting to re-build a team Jimbo.

So what's the deal with Brock? Is it anything lingering from last year's back injury?

Apparently it's a lingering groin issue that flared up early in the season after he had already missed a couple of games to start the season. Back, groin, hips are all interconnected so there is definitely a troubling weakness there.

Nothing like a good ol' fashioned beatdown of the worst team in the NHL to lift your sagging spirits!

Wonderful assist by Dion Phaneuf on Elias Pettersson's game-winner. It landed right on his stick.

Indeed, followed by a beautiful wrist shot. Small victories.

My word, the Kings are terrible. Old and slow with little structure and poor puck movement. Good ol' Willie D ain't long for the NHL as a head coach I'm afraid. Peterson was a bright spot for the Kings and looks to have a promising future as an NHL netminder.

Ditto on LA. They really do look as bad as their record suggests.

Having trouble scoring? Throw your big offseason scoring acqusition on the 4th line.

Not only that, Willie benched his ass for the entire third period last night. But hey, they won I guess, so...

At the very least if you're trying to move him you should maybe try and showcase him on the power play or something.

Oh well, Kovy being benched by various coaches throughout his career is just kinda par for the course.

I was actually at the game last night. Kopi and Brown decided to show up (and Peterson in net) - but that's more an indictment on the Oilers than it is the Kings.

Man, McDavid looks frustrated. They need to find a complimentary player to match his speed and skill -- obviously easier said than done. Not sure how much Hitch can really help this team. Lucic: old and hunchy and not intimidating in the least. Kassian: barely a professional hockey player. Draisaitl: invisible. Puljujarvi: just roams around the ice surface and adds little in the way of value to the team on both sides of the puck. Talbot: shaken. The team is so poorly constructed they can offer no meaningful support for McDavid who is often passing into thin air once he completes a trademark rush.

I liked Gaudette's game last night. I'm thinking JB is pushing for TG to get him more ice time while Beagle and BSutter are out... Get BSutter's trade value up in time for the TDL then flip him to the highest bidder. Sutter seems to be the perennial trade acquisition target for postseason teams but with Huncho's emergence as a very good defensive zone FO specialist, and Beagle as another FO specialist, BSutts might be redundant on a non-playoff team...
