For fans of a certain age he was probably the most popular Canuck to play after Smyl and Linden. Competed with everything he had and took so much joy in what he was doing it made him wonderfully infectious to watch on the ice or listen to in an interview.

The relationship between him and Bure is one of my favourites in the NHL.

He didn't play too much in his ~2 years with the Isles, but he was a reason to watch a shitty team. He gave everything he had whenever he played. Sorry to hear this.

Banner = "Gino is tougher than Saddam"

Gino to team mate "what number is Saddam" :D

and the guy that had no problem speaking up against Messier and Keenan, and was sent to NYI as a result. Another on the long list of reasons why Vancouver fans will always hate Messier

He was so weak and so ill last summer, seemed inevitable he would be gone soon. However Gino has improved, hopefully will get his wish and work for the Canucks as a scout. http://www.theprovince.com/sports/hockey/canucks-hockey/Former+Vancouver+Canucks+player+Gino+Odjick/10777690/story.html

That's amazing news, and hard to fathom given how dire things sounded before.
