and the signings get worse...........depending on where the salary cap lands, the Nucks will have between $3.5 to $6.5 million next year to sign 6 players. Does Gillman even have a voice in this organization any more? Salary cap and advanced stats were his responsibilities yet it looks like neither matters.

http://canucksarmy.com/2015/4/9/subtraction-by-addition

So Mathias and Richardson will have to be gone (and 4 to 6 rookies), and if its the $3.5 value then so will Weber, either that or trade someone with significant cap (Miller <please, please>, Vrbata, Burrows, Bieksa, Edler, Hamhuis). Really to be making trades to clear cap space is desperate and Benning will get fleeced.

3.09 - The Canucks give up 3.09 goals against per 60 minutes when Sbisa is on the ice at even-strength, which is the 7th worst rate among NHL defencemen. The Canucks average 2.20 goals for per 60 minutes at even-strength, which should give you an indicator of how good their record would be with a defence corps composed of Sbisa clones.

Benning gave Miller a limited NTC  ...........hated this contract a year ago, hate it even more today. With that in mind CA discusses whether he can be moved. Unfortunately the prognosis is not good, looks like Eddie will have to go.

Please, please Mr. Wilson, save Benning from himself.

If David Clarkson can be traded, then anyone can be.

Yeah...there were kind of special circumstances that were required to make that deal happen

But it still happened, and it's pretty much universally agreed that's the worst contract in the NHL. Miller only has one more year after this and it's a limited NTC. They may have to eat some salary in order to move him, which would be hilarious if the Canucks ended up paying two goaltenders who weren't on their roster.

Besides, Doug Wilson is officially in the market for a goalie, and if he's gone any more batshit-crazy than he already was last season, then...

Doug is the big hope for sure, Miller's NTC means he picks 5 teams and he wants to be closer to his wife which means 3 Cali teams and Phoenix........only SJ will have an opening.

#Canucks have asked Kevin Bieksa to waive his no-trade clause. Potential list of teams TBD

Is Bieksa any good anymore? Looks hurt a lot. Detroit could use some right side anger. Quincey+Bieksa= so many minor penalties.

He's 34? Probably not right now then, but a trade-deadline if a defenseman is hurt kind of move.

No, you probably don't want any part of him. His best days are long behind him.

So we trade our heart and soul guy (BXA) for a 2016, 2nd; trade our 2012 reclamation project, Kassian (formerly known as The Return on Cody Hodgson), and one of most popular players (Lack).

Calgary is loading up; Ducks reunite BXA with Kes; Edmonton drafted McJeezus; Kings dump their Kim Richards and acquire Lucic... This year is going to be a looooong, fugly rebuilding season...

I wouldn't mind a rebuild at all, but it doesn't seem like that's what they have in mind. A rebuilding team wouldn't be throwing a pick in to make the Kassian deal, they horde picks. They'd be letting marginal vets like Dorset and Sbisa walk to make room for young guys from the AHL. They would have gone after Hamilton not Lucic. It just seems like management values experience over youth and potential (Miller vs Lack) even when that youth out performs the vet (Kassian vs Prust)

Go for the cup or go for the lottery pick, just don't be mediocre, commit to something please.

More detailed write up on the Kassian trade by CA

http://canucksarmy.com/2015/7/1/first-look-zack-kassian-traded-to-montreal-for-brandon-prust

Would someone please tell me what the Nucks plan is? Cause if they have one I sure can't figure it out, all looks random to me.

Yeah I don't get the Kassian deal at all. I thought we were trying to get younger and acquire picks....Good Luck to Kass, I think he still has lots of upside

Fuck Jim Benning with a tetanus-laced cheese grater. The guy is destroying the future, let alone the present. This has to be some sort of long con revenge for how the team dumped him in 1989. Almost everything he has done has been mind-numbingly awful.

I think Trevor Linden deserves some of the blame here as well. He may not be steering the ship, but he's the one who's supposed to be charting the course.

If we were going to bring Weber back why didn't we qualify him and save some money? :argh:

Kurtz is running the insane asylum up the Nung River.

- "There is no method..."

I don't even know where to begin. A complete and utter massacre.
