And Kassian picks up 4 assists tonight vs Buffalo, all primary. The guy has some incredible hands for a big guy. After Henrik and Daniel I'd say he's the best passing forward on the team. Hopefully next year he gets some time on the 2nd line.

and this amuses me.

Quote:
Kevin Bieksa had himself a remarkable line as well. He on the ice for an out-of-this-world 36 shot attempts for.. and yet somehow, none of them managed to find the back of the net. It happens.

Quote:
Finally, Cody Hodgson managed a 27.3 CF%, while Kassian posted a 60.7% corsi night. There's a bunch of other great stats about how Kassian's 4 assist night was the first by a non-Henrik Sedin Canuck since Brendan Morrison back in '05, and how Kassian's assist output for the night matched Hodgson's over the past month in surpassing his even strength production for the season. But that's just beating a dead horse at this point, because we get it. This was a no contest all the way around.

yeah we just need to convince Zach he's ALWAYS playing against the Sabres. so Sportsline had both Daniel and Kesler in the lineup tonight, were they really playing?

I didn't watch, I'm not a masochist but apparently they both played and did well.

Quote:
David Booth - to go along with his goal! - was on the ice for 16 shot attempts for v. only 2 against. Kesler's line, despite not generating a goal, posted an ~75% corsi night. The Sedins topped the 70% mark themselves.

Crap, this team can't even do a good job at tanking. Although it would seem its more the Wild's goalie than any effort from the Nucks as they were outshot 31-19. Good for Booth though, I have acquired a bit of a soft spot for him, his possesion numbers are dominant but it hasn't resulted in the goals.

Finally some puck luck for their 3rd win in a row, but they will need to be much better tomorrow. At least it looks like they are playing as a team again which is a good sign.

2 unassisted goals by Booth and another by Kassian? Whaaaat? :awesome:

Probability of making the playoffs is up to a dizzying 4.4 %

Yeah I know I'm getting sucked in already and don't even know why I'd want them to make it - except of course that if they do they'd have to be playing pretty well by then.

What will happen is they will miss by 2 points and draft 13th just missing out on some future superstar in the 12 hole.....its just the way they are.

I've returned to 1990's pessimism quickly. :laughcry:

I frankly don't see why Torts doesn't just go for broke and try a "grind line" of Booth-Kesler-Kassian. That trio would NEVER lose the puck.

The question has been asked plenty, Kesler shoots, Kassian loves to pass and is probably 3rd best forward on the team at it and the other two pretty capable for covering his defensive miscues.

The Strombone thing was funny and had it's time, but quite frankly the one-liner quip-thing is getting a little old. The mystique is starting to wear off.

Not for me it's not. His candor and sense of humor is a breath of fresh air in a sea of complete duds. Hockey isn't exactly known for their colorful characters in modern times.

Agreed, funniest hockey player on Twitter although Monahan may surpass him

And still is. I can understand your POV on this, but I don't share it at all. Might help that I'm not only removed from the situation as a fan, I have a healthy disdain for the Canucks.

Precisely. This bias is quite evident. Well enjoy those Luongo quips!

Well you can hardly blame me, Greg. This has nothing to do with Bertuzzi, just the fact the Canucks have pretty much owned the Avs for most of the AV/Gillis era. For the record, I don't think I come in here to bash them on a regular basis. I'd like to think I'd still enjoy the pot shots he's taking even if I was a Canucks fan, but I can't say that for sure. Whatever the case, I still get a kick out of his stuff...most of it isn't leveled at the Canucks in any event.
