Will playing with Bo Hunter inspire Booth to score again?

Are you trying to mash VAN's two first rounders together?

Yep, must have failed pretty badly if you had to ask, and for the sake of clarity it was done in reference to Booth's love of bow hunting. Pitiful but that is the appropriate sentiment for how I feel about my team right now. Bring on the rebuild! :viking:

Botchford had interesting stuff to say this morning. Apparently Canucks are still shopping Edler even though his NTC has kicked in. This indicates to me that they are in even more cap trouble than I suspected. His hit is really friendly so they must be looking at more prospects if this is the guy they want to trade because they won't get comparable value back at his price point. Suspect the Tanev negotiations have them concerned, if he gets an offer sheet there is no way they can match it.

As well he mentioned that Torts was not hired to win immediately but his mandate is to develop young players. Looks like management is going for rebuild, I just wish they'd do it full blown and ship everyone out and not do it half way. I don't think that works.

So with Ballard bought out the Canuck's need to fill seven positions and have $7.5 million in cap space.

Quote:
Chris Tanev and Frank Corrado look most likely to be defenders 5 and 6 - Tanev, of course, still needs to be resigned.

Prospects like Jordan Schroeder, Brendan Gaunce, Nick Jensen and Peter Andersson would each make $1 million or less in the NHL; expect them to be given good shots at making the roster in September.

Other guys like Darren Archibald, Kellan Lain and Bill Sweatt also have a shot up front, but should be considered serious long shots at this point.

If Tanev gets $2 mil that will leave $5.5 mil for 6 players, or an average of just over $900k a piece, going to be very, very tight. If it is much more than that they will need to trade him and if he gets an offer sheet well bye, bye. No wonder they are still looking to move Edler.

The Nucks really need about 4 rookies to make the team. Out of Hovart, Shinkurak, Jensen, Guance, Lain and Corrado they'd be happy in a normal year to have 2 of them graduate but this is not a normal year. And oh yea, both their Swedish goalies would be better off with 30 games in the AHL rather than opening doors at this point but doubt they can afford a capable backup either so that makes a need for maybe 5 rookies.

Going to miss Lapierre, great 4th liner and capable of 3rd line fill in duties but the Nucks just can't afford him. And good bye to the very stalwart Alberts I presume.

Nashville is letting Jonathan Blum go, at 24 years of age perhaps he maybe a worthwhile reclamation project, he's expressed interest in the Canuck's and it would be nice to have an xGiant in the lineup. Speaking of xGiant reclaim projects wonder what Gilbert Brule is doing these days. :P

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $62,899,486; BONUSES: $0
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $1,400,514

This gives them a bare-bones budget to acquire a depth defenceman - perhaps Andrew Alberts once again... They'll have to fast-track Kellan Lain, and hope he or one of their recent picks can jump right into the #3 or 4C spot.

Canucks sign D Yannick Weber to a one-year, 650K deal.

Bergevin didn't like him, basically wasted a year of his development. That being said, he'll get beat one-on-one and along the boards. He might be a good 2PP guy.

Well, he'll at least be better 7D option than Yann Sauve. One of the things that Ballard did exceptionally well was to NOT get beat 1-on-1 along the boards; but I guess that's not exactly worth $4M more a year than this kid. Hopefully, he won't suck too badly. Still hoping to see AnAl or similar.

My sentiments exactly...

Better than Tom Sestito. In AV's system, he'd be Raffi Torres / Tanner Glass 2014.

Richardson was a really good swingman for the Avs, lots of speed, versatility, and a boomer of a shot. Then he injured his wrist and it all went downhill. I haven't really paid a ton of attention to him in LA but he seemed decent enough for them.

Alberts re-signed for $600. I like the price a lot figured he'd go in the $900 - 1.2 million range.

For the record I don't believe I've ever called Kesler a diver, but I got a kick out of some of these GIFs, and you should too.

For the record I have called Kesler a diver and enjoyed them all, especially the ducks.

Alex Edler's name keeps coming up in trade rumors, and Avs fans on HF are all over it.

Of course if P.A. Parenteau could snag P.K. Subban in a potential deal, he could snag Edler. Right? RIGHT?

If Parenteau = Subban then I'd respectfully suggest Parenteau for Edler is gross over payment, perhaps McCleod would be more equitable?

Well, you DID trade away your McLeod-type player, so that'd be perfect! :awesome:

What now, indeed: Renaud Lavoie at TVA says Luongo has been dealt to the Panthers.
