Samuelsson had a chance to speak with the excellent Swedish hockey website Hockey Sverige and Canucks Army has a translation of the Vancouver related bits. Basically he pinpoints the Burrows bite on Bergeron as a potential turning/rallying point for Boston and then ends with an onimous 'I didn't think too highly of management' when discussing the positives of his trade to Florida.

Unforutnately, no follow-up questions were asked on these points. The whole 'you can't fail (with the Sedins) no matter how little talent you have' line combined with the Burrows bite incident being brought up... well, it's not a guarantee of anything, but it doesn't sound like he has a very high opinion on Alexandre as a whole.

Jason King, Taylor Pyatt, and Steve Bernier beg to differ...

It probably wasn’t very good that (Alexandre) Burrows bit Patrice Bergeron in the finger in the first game. After that, Boston was angry.

I think the Rome hit on Nathan Horton in Game 3 was more likely the turning point in that series... That and the failure to show up for games in Massachusetts. :argh:

My take on the management comment was that it was partly directed at AV and his co. due the Burrows comments and his desire to play with the Sedins -- but I could be wrong and the groin injury comment was wierd.

Sound like a combination of a bad interviewer (i.e. no follow up questions), sour grapes and poor communication skills on Samuelsson's part. Oh well, at least he speaks his mind which his a rare quality these days in the NHL.

Based on this and previous comments on being left off the Olympic team, Samuelsson is definitely not one to suffer fools lightly.

Aesop's estate thanks you in joining me as apparently the only other sports fan who knows what this term means and can use it in its correct context. ;)
