Sweet sweet Victory! Lou with the SO! Didn't expect to win the Presidents Trophy this year - very pleased. :viking:

The President's Trophy means shit I'm afraid. Home ice advantage in this playoff format is highly overrated. We learned that the hard way last year. It's a war of attrition where you must win on the road. Still a nice thought though. Oh and it doesn't matter who they play in round one...

The PT is a surprise. 51 wins and 111 pt is a terrific season no matter what but it is the lowest point total for the PT since the Wings finished first with 109 in 2003-2004. Shows the parity, especially in the West where all the playoff teams have plus goal differentials in the double digits.

SJ and LA now into O/T.

And it's LA in the first round.

Against SJ and LA, home ice is important because both teams play on slush and have been built big. They aren't fast and having better ice and a speedier team gives the Canucks home ice edge. Against Detroit home ice is also important. Against the other teams in the conference, not so much.
