It would be cruel to the Calgary fan base to lose and give them faint hope. Starving dogs and rubber bones and such. I'm so torn.... :viking:

Yes, the sooner they can accept the reality that they really aren't better than Dallas, Phoenix or San Jose, the sooner they can begin the re-build and start dumping underperforming players, the better. So really, the Canucks would be doing them a favor by annihilating their faint hopes for a sniff of the postseason...

Of course, that's never helped them in the past.

Henrik Karlson in net tonight. I don't expect much effort out of the Flames however you never know. The Canucks should roll on this one. The Flames are just bad......

Canucks continue to deny the slot and keep the puck on the perimeter.

Nice passing during the PP at the end of the period but no such luck...

Lapierre's goal:

Wow... Jokinen HAS to be tougher in front of his own goal on a play like that. That was very Sedin-like in the way that he just never made a play to take away Lapierre's stick...

Noted Canucks-killer Calamari puts the Phlegms up 2-1, setting up some heroics - MAGs with his first goal as a Canuck:

And then Andrew Ebbett gets his fifth of the season in OT:

With two points from tonight, and St.Louis' loss, Vancouver vaults into 1st place in the West... with three games left to play. Somewhat surprising, really...

So long as a team like Ottawa can seemingly bounce back after a bad season with a retooling, hope springs eternal in Calgary.

To be honest, I think they might just be able to pull it off. Better to see a quick rebound like that than tanking in perpetuity like we're witnessing in Long Island and Edmonton.
