Weird. The Peoria Rivermen brand is now moving to the SPHL (Souther Professional Hockey League). Uh, never heard of them. New logos and everything.

Reminiscent of the Fishsticks uniform, which is fine for a minor-league franchise.

No it isn't.

Edit- and by that, I mean it isn't fine for a minor league franchise. It is similar to the fishstick guy, which should never be inspiration for anything. at all. ever. anywhere.

Any hockey league with two Mississippi-based teams is fine by me.

This years 5th round pick Anton Cederholm looks like a young version of Paul Bunyan. The friggin manling is huge. Video of him breaking a medicine ball.

Canucks Army has been doing a profile on the teams top prospects. They got to #5 today, 2013 #24 pick Hunter Shinkaruk. Check out the video of his top 10 goals all time. Kid loves his backhand and goal #2 is absolutely beautiful, think it gave me a semi.

Other than anyone named Sedin or Bure can anyone recall a Nucks draft pick with this much creative talent? Baffling how he fell to #24.

Hunter's first goal as a Canuck. Very nice foot work and picking the pocket on that shot.

He's going to be a lot of fun to watch.

Nice to see high level goalies cheating on a play as bad as me at bad pick up hockey.

Sounds like the kid has a chip on his shoulder which is something I like to see in a player myself.

So did they send him back in the end? I saw they sent Bo back but I didn't see anything about Hunter, I hope they have if they aren't going to play him with Kass and now Burrows out.

Out of curiosity, who was the last overager to become an impact player in the NHL?

How much impact? Dan Boyle impact or Chris Tanev impact? or something in between?

That would be Dan Girardi somewhere in between. Not sure if he's the last overager to have an impact, though.

Tanev wasn't even an overager in Major Junior...his road is amazing. Boyle wasn't really an overager, he was playing for Miami of Ohio at 18.

You're right, technically they're not over agers I guess but they were all undrafted.

David Desharnais was an overager.

Tyler Johnson of the Lightning played on overage season in the W. He's now tied with MacKinnon in points after a hat trick against him last night.

Eriksson named AHL player of the weeks, seems surviving the Ducks shellacking served him well
