There has to be a few out there. If I was a GM I'd look for a UFA d-man who'd been in the AHL a year too long/fringe NHLer and ask his agent if he'd consider playing F & D for a guaranteed NHL roster spot around league minimum. Easier to learn wing than D. Even if they're used as a defensive 3rd/4th liner with limited minutes, it could turn out to be a great move. If not, it cost league minimum and he's the 7th d-man. I think flexibility is underrated.
