With that many high picks they're sure to make a few trades for current NHLers. Maybe not top flight guys, but probably better than prospects who are 2-4 years away.
Still think they are slow cooking for the next season they only just looked to more or less complete the tear down stage a few months ago, so 2-4 year away prospects should be right in the wheel house of what the Leafs are looking to hold on to.
Upfront they have Laich, Bozak, Michelak, Komerov, Geening, and JVR signed for next year and suspect them to resign RFA Kadri and UFA Parenteau. Then with the youth I expect should be up or have a great chance to fill the remaining spots there are Nylander, Brown, Soshnikov, Hyman, Leivo, and Leipsic that all had decent showing when called up this past season. As well you have Marner who I doubt needs to spend another year in the OHL unless he flops hard in NHL so expect him with the Leafs as he is not eligible to play in AHL. Never say never as if the right deal falls in their lap they will make it but do not see much need to chase anything at this stage yet.
D does have some holes as signed and returning RFA the have Gardner, Hunwick, Reilly, Marincin, Corrado, Campbell, Valiev, Carrick, and Harrington. Outside the first four names lots of doubt for me on the other guys being part of the finished puzzle, thought they have some 2015 picks that had really good draft +1 seasons to look forward to so they certainly could used some D for now and where I would more likely see them active. Do have my hopes up that they can get Zaitsev.
They definitely need to sign an NHL ready backup goalie as Sparks should still be in AHL.
