That's what Cox is saying, anyways.

Quote:
If that happens, or even if it doesn't, an eight-year deal in the $70 million range is in the offing, and all indications are that Kessel wants to stay in Toronto and that the Leafs are determined to keep him and pay him the huge money.

If Kessel signs before Kadri you KNOW things at the negotiation table aren't going well.

Probably is worth the 8 million area if the cap indeed goes up with some significance next season.

Don't see the Leafs having space to make a move till next off season either so don't expect much to happen till then.

Can someone explain to me what the problem is? Is it a money/cap issue or are the leafs just being doinks with kadri?

They want a bridge deal and not to give him big money right now. They also can't afford to give him big money right now after their drunken sailor offseason spree.

Leafs went from being a team with a ton of cap room heading into the offseason to one that has limited options for signing their star young RFA.

JVR-Bozak-Clarkson. Yeah, that'll go well.

Oh boy nice click bait headline score.

Have to do something to spark Kadri as if he and Lupul are not producing the Leafs are going to have issues. That said if they produce now and Bozak and JVR stop your pretty much in the same situation and it would not surprise me if that is what happens.

Well the problem was with Winnik, Lupul and Kadri putting up seven points between them in eight games they where not taking care of the secondary match up anyway. A juggle was in order, my hope was that Kadri would turn a corner now starting to think that is not going to happen so really the Leafs only have on offensive catalyst type in Kessel and are still trying to run and gun.
