Whooo-rah.
Lombardi looked really good. Nice to see Phaneuf and Kessel on the scoresheet. Canadiens really seemed to have trouble with our forecheck, kind of surprised by that- they also seemed to have trouble clearing the net all game; that loose puck sitting in the crease for the Lombardi goal was insanely bad, like 3 Habs skated right past it. Also surprised at the liberties Leafs were taking with Price- we got plenty of penalties, not like we were getting away with it or anything, but we kept on running into him anyway. Must be the country music themed mask.
Leafs PK looked quite passable. PP looked completely terrible, that 5-on-3 for us was a real momentum killer, lucky that it was at the end of a period.
Steckel was great in the F/O circle, solid on the PK, made himself look well worth the 4th round pick all around.
While the Habs gave us fits in the 1st and ran the play at times for the rest of the game, I'm stunned at how slow and listless they looked overall. Of course, early days yet.
Reimer and his two best friends on either side of him really stole the show. A couple of goal-post bounces the other way could have changed the game completely.
Best thing though? Hockey's back!
