But I still don't think the reporter did anything egregious, and I think the Leafs are the ones being ridiculous.

Why must those be mutually exclusive? I have no problem saying the writer was a douche for exploiting a players mother for info he knows the player was not giving him and as well the Leaf brass cone of silence on injuries is ridiculous/comical. That said only one of those has the potential to be hurtful in my opinion thus the focus of my scorn.

Oh and Hammer the Reimer clan in what I've seen come of as the Ah Schuks country Bumkin types, which admitidly adds to my displeasure.

Wow, please be more condescending.

Reimer's parents have been interviewed several times in the recent past without organizational permission for stories on James, be they about his faith, his personal battles, his hockey growth, etc. Family members are contacted on news stories all the time. If family members want to give comment, they are free to do so. The only reason the Leafs are pulling this card is because they didn't want this information to get out, which is a ridiculous reason.

No one was duped, the Reimers aren't moronic hicks being taken advantage of, and the story and the method of obtaining the information was completely above board.

Actually I meant it a compliment, my milk farmer wife could back that up as she has never stopped me from using the term endearingly. Though if your offended my apologies.

Anyway clearly this discussion has run it's course and as the saying goes don't want to poop where I live.

Not to throw gasoline on the fire, I just thought this was amusing enough:

For those who don't know, that's Burke and Wilson's Twitter accounts.

You know it must be chemistry. I just don't see what Reimer does so well other than fight for the puck to make the Leafs so much better with him in net, they really must just like playing in front of him.

He's better than the Monster, who still looks slow and awkward in the butterfly. But yeah, I imagine the Leafs are a little more tense when it's not Reimer in the net. Haven't really seen enough of Scrivens to know how good he is as of yet.

I realize the debate is done and I don't mean to add fuel to the fire, but I figured I'd post this because NOW I think Simmons has taken this too far.

http://www.torontosun.com/2011/12/05/bu ... arrassment

It's one thing to do you job and defend yourself, it's another to harp and whine about it incessantly afterwards.

If anything sportswriters/casters should love covering Burke. The guy is a strong, vocal personality in a sea full of dullards.

Guess he won't rest until Burke actually does block him.
