Ottawa with back to back wins now. :woop:

Problem with getting the Jackets first rounder is I think it would take one of Kaberle or Kubina moving to get it in play and I doubt they waive the no trade for the Jackets given the Shark and Red Wing boogie men that stands in the way out west.

Antropov I think will get a late first if he goes, but the Jackets would likely move a something else and still get a serviceable center as they still just to make the playoffs this year.

Nothing like risking a season ending injury to bury the empty netter for the hat trick.

Tonight the Habs just decided to miss the empty net about 8 times rather than take that risk of injury.

Blake, a guy who will never pass up a shot no matter what side of anyone's goal line he is on did these surprising things tonight:

1) Passed it off to set up that Kaberle goal and

2) His first shot that narrowly missed the empty net actually looked like a saucer pass to a teammate that was just out of reach and almost slid into the empty net.

Wouldn't him injuring himself be good for the Leafs to drop even more? Or are you hoping that Burke will trade him and therefore an injury would eliminate that possibility?

I kid about Blake's goal, there was enough time that you needed that goal to be safe. Besides for him instinct says the goalie will cushion his fall.

Blake would have to be back to a forty goal scorer to be moved and nice game last night, but he's not that. Age plus contract makes him...what's the term, a sunk cost I think I've seen used her or somewhere. Hey at least he's a functional player the last month or two, start of the season he was horrible.

Oh yeah and anytime my Dad and I have watched a Leaf game lately, the game has been ridiculous. The Boston one a little while back and this...

Tampa passed us and Atlanta and Sens making up ground of late. Islanders still sucking.

I really see a second last in our future.

Kabs broke his hand apparently. He's out a month, so even he is moved looks like the Nucks would be out as they need help sooner than later if they go looking for help at all.

So I wonder what this will do on a return for Kabs?

At least they'll be worse without him in the lineup (which at this point does not seem possible).

McCabe with the overtime winner into the Leaf net...it's like he never left.

Anyway, I have nothing against McCabe. He played a little crappy at the end but always seemed to try and he never screwed over the team due to his confusion with his life purpose like some players. Leaf fans better give it to Sundin twice as hard.

Somewhat interesting Leafs fact after last night's blowout in Buffalo:

Since the Sabres came into the league in 1970 the Leafs are 25-51-6-1 in Buffalo (Aud + HSBC).

For a few years there I went to almost every Leaf at Sabres game and once remember Steve Thomas getting an OT winner and other than that it feels like I went to six or seven Leaf losses. And some of those years Buffalo sucked and the Leafs where good too. I think when your own building is clearly more loaded in favour of the visiting team you find extra motivations...that was always my theory anyway.

How the F can the team with the league worst GAA still be 11 th in the East?
WTF?
While we have a worse last 10 record the shitbag Lightning, Sens and Thrashers refuse to start picking up some points to leapfrog in the standings.
I do not think we can finish below NYI (bastards) but comeon the other three are way better on paper and actually have real stars on their teams for Fs sake! :chairshot:

Yeah, the Canucks have played the Habs pretty well at home over the years (all things considered), with half the fans being anglo-Montrealers and their children.

That's a fairly recent development, though; the Habs had a terrific record in the Coliseum throughout the 70s and early 80s IIRC...

You do realize you are talking about the 1970s and 1980s Habs versus the 1970s and 1980s Canucks teams, right? I think that record might have a little more to do with, I don't know... talent than any theories about the crowds.
