What do we really know about Brian Burke? at least that was the question posed to me by Kevin Lowe, he also said Burke has been know to "Pal" around with Garry Bettman and that as Leaf fans we have a right to know the true extent of that relationship.

I have the job, but I haven't decided. I'm officially waiting for Don Cherry and all the rest of the HNIT crew to give me a great fucking rim job first...

Well I'm going to assume the 6 year (5 3/4, whatever) deal is true and just say while he is not the best GM in the league and all that he is the best available and has the personality to not let others make his decisions for him so I am good with the signing.

Oh and all I hear from fans is to expect all the Non-North Americans to be moved but did he not bring in many Euros with the Nucks? Sure he went in the big strong tough NA with the Ducks but is that "his" way or the way that team needed to be built based on the existing parts? Guess we will soon start to see.

yeah , he brought in Magnus Arvedsson , Mats Lindgren , Sami Salo...etc his thing is size more than "north american style". The Canucks were always one of the biggest teams when Burke was around either was asst GM or GM.. the Ducks were too I believe. With that being said he also likes to bring in "his guys".

He is bar none the most entertaining GM.

I also heard that Dave Nonis is part of the package , I hear he's coming along as Assit GM too.

I'm trying to figure out which is bigger: Toskola's 5 hole or Burke's ego. It's quite the conundrum...

What I did find interesting was when Dominic Moore was interviewed after the game last night.

Didn't realize that Steve was his brother.

How long before the wheeling and dealing starts? Burkey needs to start hoarding draft picks.

That press conference was brutal. What a lying wanker. He knows Anaheim's owner is looking at jail time, and he knows the young studs he inherited are about due for hefty raises. He also knows Niedermayer and Selanne are about to bail... Burke's m.o. is simple - make sure you're the first rat to leave the sinking ship. Still makes you a rat though...

If he can float our boat to cup contention for a few years he's free to jump ship after how ever.

Hockey at the NHL level is a business and these guys and no harm in looking out for number one.

P.S. the avatar is suppose to be sarcastic. I'm happy he's the manager but my god the man is not a....well, god.

It's speculation on my part of course, but it wouldn't suprise me all that much to see Kaberle reconsider his "no trade".

He was benched thru the first period last night & then responded with a -3 rating. Overall, he was shy of 14 minutes of ice time, playing behind the likes of Schenn & White.

What position holds more power? Prime Minister of Canada or President & General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs?
