Interesting article. He'll be missed, but even I couldn't see how he's overall better than Kaberle or Beauchemin and yet he gets more money than they do. And I do think Hamrlik and Spacek are better ways to spend your money as far as Montreal goes... albeit they are older.

We'll see, I suppose. But yeah, Robyn Regehr he ain't. I think a lot of what Komisarek brings is mere psychological, and that got lost with the Habs as soon as he seperated his shoulder fighting Lucic.

Prior to that injury, he was an upper-echelon stay-at-home defenceman. He was near impossible to beat one-on-one and forwards were fearful to take the outside corner on him.

After the injury, he was afraid to hit and suddenly didn't have the courage to take the body anymore.

If he returns to form I'll be kicking myself for letting him go, but somehow I don't think we'll ever see that Komisarek (the one who formed the most underrated D-pairing in the league with Markov) again.

Kaberle signed to a discount so I don't think his contract should be used as a comparison. But Beauchemin I get, but still see how if Komisarek gets back the mental or physical step back he took last year then he would have more value.

I think a Summer of booze & BBQ will work wonders on Komisarek's shoulder & he will be just fine when he steps on the ice next month .... (next month!!??? :wth: )
