Great career, Gary. Can't believe no one picked him up.

Yet another great career come to a sad and unwanted end in Tampa.

Yup - Same shit happened to Dave Andreychuk, another favorite of mine.

Odd indeed nobody picked him up. With that said, many of the "contenders" seem to be at, if not over the cap.

Furthermore, I believe Gary had a no-trade, thus would only agree to play for specific teams?

He would have been a great asset with his presence alone around young Luke Schenn, et al.

Yeah, Toronto should've picked him up in that bizarre last second deal so he could at least play out his final games somewhere that gave a damn. Tampa wasn't going to play him down the stretch since he gets a $10,000 bonus for each game he plays, and that'd just be pissing money away at this point.

Don't forget Brian Bradley. And to a much lesser degree, Tim the Tool-Man Taylor.

Great career, Gary. I didn't like some of the things you did on the ice, but I would've taken you on my team any day of the week. You were awesome in '02 and missed a ton of 03 with twin shoulder surgeries after that run.

Amazing that he was able to come back for parts or most of 11 seasons after he had to retire in 96 for a year because of his neck injuries.
