I wonder if he's got some health issue in his family? Hope all's ok.

Otherwise, I hope to hell he comes back to Detroit. Oh man.

I honestly thought the succession plan in Deet was pretty much laid out. Kenny holds court for two more years, bolts for Seattle, Draper takes over. But yeah, if Yzerman is suddenly available and wants to come back ain't no way they don't.

Holland not stepping down for Yzerman has been proven to be an incredibly costly mistake. Hopefully they can rectify it by bringing him back because Holland has only taken baby steps the past two years to clean up the shitshow he made.

Maybe Tampa had good indication that he wants to move on to something else next year and did not want a guy with a foot out the door in charge and really he would not probably want to be as the potential for conflict, or at least the appearance of conflict would be great.

From the sounds of things, Tampa wanted to commit to a contract and Yzerman wasn't sure what he wanted to do so they went forward with the succession plan. And really, after everything that they went through with Stamkos(and to some extent Drouin), it would have been another storm with Yzerman being on the last year of his contract. Out with a surprise rather than a constant cloud and media attention over the course of the season.

So he's coming home to Detroit for now.

People keep talking about Holland's contract status and having a year longer than Yzerman's. That shouldn't matter one fucking bit, really. If Yzerman's your guy then you move Holland upstairs and work out the details.

He's been Tampa's GM for 8 years now. Crazy.

I think Stevie Y might be in play for the Seattle gig more than Kenny. Maybe extension talks in Tampa were going too slowly for his liking?

The way been talked about sounds like the opposite - the Lightning wanted a commitment but Yzerman wasn't ready to sign.

I think this gives Stevie a good year off to cool his jets (he's been a full-time pro hockey guy for what, well over twenty years now?) then he gets to slide into the Detroit GM job, if available.

BriseBois's first act as the TB GM--Jake Dotchin's contract gets terminated for what they say is a "material breach."

Damn...apparently Dotchin wasn't just not in "game shape," he was like, WAY outta shape.

Cap hell be damned, the Bolts have extended Yanni Gourde at six-years, $5.166 million AAV.

They're at $67,259,165 next season with only two defencemen under contract and Brayden Point an RFA.
