OH! I just noticed the Blues finally fixed their uniforms.

Those look fantastic. Never change them again.

Note to Nashville: There is no way to make piping look good.

Basically just these again, no, with slight variation on the stripes?

Yes. They got it right, especially considering the travesties they sported in the '90s.

Image

But for some reason St. Louis decided with the new EDGE jerseys they should try this:

Image

They have the shoulder yokes fanned out for some odd reason and thought it'd look cool to have Bronco-esque piping go all the way down from the shoulder to the pant leg. No. No. A thousand times, fuck no.

Also--and this drives me absolutely nuts about the Avs current uniforms--when you put a C or an A on the jersey it runs right into the stripes.

Image

Yes, I'm pickier (WAY pickier) about uniform design than most, but it just blows my mind how many bad designs came out of the switch to the EDGE jerseys. IMO trying to make a frickin' hockey jersey more "high tech" was an exercise in idiocy, but I suppose if the NFL and NCAA football are going to do it, why not the NHL?

Carl Gunnarsson, according to Strickland, says he's played the last two seasons with a torn labrum. If that isn't a scathing indictment of the Leafs medical staff I don't know what is.

The Rangers were absolutely dominating the Blues, up 1-0...and then Tarasenko happened.

It will be very weird seeing Fatty in blue. I'm so used to the acres of red fabric.

How has nobody photoshopped Marty, his ex, and his current wife onto some Sister Wives photos?

Holy crap that bounce...that can happen to anyone, right over the shoulder.

My brother had one almost go in about a month ago. The puck hit the ice and took at least a 30-degree hop horizontally from where it was going. It was crazy.

Here's a question: Has Doug Armstrong really made a move that's paid off so far? I suppose he should get credit for convincing Jori Lehtera to make the jump from Europe, but apart from that, I don't think he's made a single move that's really paid off. Even the ones that should have (signing Stastny, trading Polak for Gunnarsson) haven't yet panned out, though it's kinda early to make a judgment on both.

Basically swapping out Ott for Sobotka was a huge mistake, though Hitch may have had a lot of influence there, I don't know.

If you can't tell, I'm not a fan of Armstrong. He was mediocre at best in Dallas. Frankly I'm kinda surprised he hasn't gone all Finn-happy like he was there.

Well, Rundblad for Tarasenko was alright I guess.

Everywhere I read Kekalainen was the one clamoring for the Blues to get Tarasenko, but I suppose Armstrong was still the guy who had to get a deal done. In hindsight that was highway robbery on STL's part.

It's still bizarre to think that they didn't put in a succession plan for Kekalainen to be the GM after Pleau. Timing would've been perfect.

Oh, forgot about the Bouwmeester deal. Can't argue that one. Yet.

Brodeur granted a leave of absence for a week, after which his status with the team will be reevaluated.
