Jones was indeed bought out, and now Adin Hill got locked up for two years.

They also added Bonino and Cogliano as forward depth.

If Karlsson and Vlasic can turn back the clock, maybe they're not doomed after all.

Hill always struck me as a fantastic #3 goalie, probably projects as a good #2, but I'm not so sure he's starting material. Oh well, Sharks are pretty much rebuilding at this point.

Hertl becomes the latest Shark to overstay his welcome: 8 x 8M AAV.

Couture, Hertl, EK, Vlasic, Burns still stuck long-term. Paying Martin Jones for years to come. At least they got out of the EKane deal.

He's already in Edmo, how would it work if they reversed it?

The contract was terminated, yes, but I believe he filed an appeal through the PA, and so it's possible money will still be owed to him and therefore, there might be a cap hit involved. I thought Marek and Friedman mentioned in a recent pod that the Sharks aren't quite sure of their cap situation because of this.

Maybe it just turns into a minor thing, like when the Kings pulled that shit with Mike Richards, they had to essentially pay a penalty, however small.

Sharks announce that Doug Wilson will be stepping down as GM. He's been on leave for most of the season due to a medical condition. I sure hope it's not anything life-threatening.

Regardless, he had a good run that ran aground when he tried to keep the contention window open (didn't help that Martin Jones imploded).

They might be a real tomorrow team soon enough: Lebrun says they're about to hire a first-time GM.

Bobby Boughner fired. Lasted three seasons, which surprises me.

Mike Grier named GM. First-timer!

Also, sad news as Bryan Marchment passed in Montreal on the eve of the draft.

Didn’t realize Mike’s brother is the GM of the Miami Dolphins.

Grier’s first draft sees him trading out of the first round which seems odd but he’s going to have to do a lot of unconventional things to get the Sharks back on track.

This team is bad, but Erik Karlsson is good again: 10 points already this season.

Sorta underwhelming return for Meier on the surface, but they might get two first rounders out of it, a 20-year-old KHL regular in Shakir, Zetterlund can jump in the lineup.

It's not Mercer or Holtz, but there are pieces here.

For some very odd reason the Sharks sent their Make-a-Wish kid to Ball Arena last night to watch his team get absolutely creamed by the defending Stanley Cup champions. Like...why? Of all the games to send him to, you choose THAT one!?

So Mike Grier is putting his stamp on the tomorrow team.

Gave up Burns and EK for not much, got a decent haul for Meier. He's getting grilled right now, but I have a feeling the alternative was some kind of Parise/Suter buyout situation, so I don't mind putting an emphasis on simply moving on.

Four picks in the first two rounds next season. Shakir Mukhamadullin might be ready sooner rather than later. Not a good scene in San Jose, but it had to be done.

And of course now Doug Wilson took on an advisory role with the Pens.

Hope whatever health issues forced him out in SJ are mostly behind him now.

The Sharks abruptly fired their head Russian scout. According to Grier, he wasn't actually doing any of the scouting work!

Like he was subcontracting it out, or just literally not doing any work?

Full quote: "#SJSharks GM Mike Grier on firing of Russian scout Igor Eronko: “We let him go, basically, because he wasn’t fulfilling his duties.”

“We hope to have someone in place for next season but have to find the right person. Not just someone who wants to say they work for an NHL team and not do the work.”"
