Much ado about nothing, but after missing basically two seasons with injuries, second rounder Jeremy Roy is looking real good with the Barracudas.

A long time ago in the Q, Roy and Thomas Chabot were the best dmen in the league, and for the longest time Roy was expected to be the better of the two.

Pavelski's got 20 on the year. Dude's 34 now.

Don't get the watch the Sharks, but I was shocked to read that Vlasic could become a healthy scratch a year into his 8 year extension.

Yikes.

Wilson went Ride-or-Die with a whole lot of guys entering or well into their thirties. So far the gambles on Jones and Vlasic are blowing up in his face.

No way Karlsson re-signs.

I also think this is it for Joe Thornton.

Whoah. That's a long 7M cap hit.

Well...the Sharks might be a Tomorrow Team whether Doug Wilson wants it or not this time. A whole slew of key players will be looking for new contracts, no way in hell do they have the cap room to keep them all.

And given the fact they don't have 1st rounders this year or next year, it might be a Day After Tomorrow Team.

Jumbo Joe said he's not sure about coming back. They need to re-sign Pavelski and I suspect they'll do that unless they want to get younger.

I'd be really shocked if Erik Karlsson came back. Just feel like the Sharks won't be lining up to pay the guy who plays behind Brent Burns 11M.

Yes - it seems a though Karlsson's value has dropped this season and into the playoffs. Dude can still generate office but the injuries are really starting to pile up. Some dumb GM will still likely pay him stupid money.

Well, I was definitely wrong about Karlsson, and now Jumbo Joe is back for another go.

Everyone loves San Jose!

You have to question that monstrosity of a contract dolled out to Karlsson.

The Sharks are in a tough position because they still haven't won a Cup, but I don't know if people view this team as a failure for not doing so. But they've gotta keep trying, and leveraging San Jose as a great place to live and play is how they do it, because it's clear the players love it there. Keeping Karlsson means committing to winning in the short-term, but given how banged up he is already I don't know what plans they have long-term. I guess go for it every year and let the chips falls where they may.

Still think it's super-weird that the "rebuilding phase" that prompted the very title of this thread happened at all. Haaso griped about how much money he was losing on the team, so it seemed inevitable. But after one year of "downsizing" where John effin' Scott was their prized offseason acquisition, they said "Nope, this sucks," and went at it even harder.

They may come to regret giving EK65 so much term, but the alternative was to let him walk for nothing after an appearance in the WCF. For better or for worse, Wilson is gonna sink or swim with this current group. They lost some important depth, but the core remains elite.

Well...Paddy Marleau might not at present. He wanted back in, but reportedly got turned away.

The Martin Jones contract is going to loom extremely large over this team. 5 years left after the first year looked really bad.

The Sharks have hired former Dodgers GM Ned Colletti as a scout: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/09/ ... dgers.html

I love cross-pollination. He brings experience in talent evaluation to the table, he understands what makes an athlete tick.

Boy, I really called this one!

In all seriousness this HAS to be it for Jumbo Joe in 2020.

$2 schmil has got to be the bottom line for Jumbo. Like as if he needs to clear the $1.2 M after tax not to mention escrow. Dude's made over $100M in his career just playing hockey.

Marleau back to help the now 0-3 Sharks.

Martin Jones might be terrible.
