Battle of the Eastern Conference divisional leaders.

David Perron will make his debut for the Pens. No word on whether PA Parenteau will suit up for the Habs. He took a hit during the Devils game and looked somewhat concussed.

Malhotra in. Parenteau out.

Price starts, even though he played last night.

Pacioretty and Desharnais continue to play well apart. 2-1 after one. Emelin also beat Crosby around a bit, which was nice to see.

Habs could've driven in the stake on the four-minute man-advantage, but they couldn't score. Their impotent PP is one of the season's great mysteries.

Kip ree ohse still thinks the Habs aren't legit, yet somehow the dolts are?

And somehow the Wings are?

How does that add up?

I really don't get it.

Most impressive win of the season so far?

Second game in two nights, on the road against Pittsburgh. They completely stifled Crosby, who spent more time chirping at the refs than trying to score.

Emelin gets a lot of flack, but the truth is if he's the biggest problem on this team, then it means we have a pretty good team. He pushed around Crosby tonight and iced the game with his first goal of the season. Gilbert is also a misunderstood player; he was sensational tonight.

Desharnais sighed during the second intermission when asked about whether he likes being on the wing, but he shouldn't: the move might save his career. He was awesome with the puck tonight, and he looks better now that he's not constantly looking for Max.

I was one of the first to start the Emelin tirade, but I agree with this statement. Plenty of very good teams compete with an Emelin on their roster.

A year ago the Habs had this as their D:

Gorges - Subban
Markov - Emelin
Bouillon - Diaz
Murray

Gorges was a 4/5 D playing on the top pair, Emelin a depth D playing on the second pair, Diaz is a 7D this year, Bouillon and Murray are out of the NHL. When they put Markov-Subban together last year they had a second pair of Gorges-Diaz.

It was a really, really bad D. There were problems everywhere.

This is a very good roster, but you also have to realize that this year it's been an extraordinarily healthy roster. A couple of minor injuries allowed the team to be better (Eller out made Galchenyuk into the top line C, Allen/Weaver injuries put Beaulieu into a regular, potential top 4 option). The minor injuries gave opporutnities to guys who were waiting behind vets and the team doesn't seem to be looking back now that they have all their players again.
