All superstars around the NHL should be pissed off at Crosby for capping him and generally the rest of the league to $8.7m per. The max salary is currently above $14m.

Special circumstances, the club cannot get insurance on Crosby due to the head injuries, so if he gets injured they have to eat it all themselves. That's going to deflate his value considerably.

His original deal essentially put a cap on superstar salaries, although the whole 'extra years' phenomenon started to creak in as well.

Crosby and the PA must be awfully secure in the belief that there won't be a salary rollback this time around.

Nice to see Crosby back in the fold, though it sucks balls that Malkin is now the one who's concussed.

On a side note, I think it's safe to say Tomas Vokoun is done.

After watching this guy the past couple of games I imagine its safe to say. There is Sid and then everyone else. He's an absolute artist with the puck.

Missed the game, haven't seen the replay but apparently he lost quite a few teeth, which is visible happening in the video. Ouch.

Now reading that he has a broken jaw and will be out for some time.

Through the fire, to the limit, to the wall
For a chance to deflect an Orpik shot, he'd gladly risk it all
Through the fire, through whatever come what may
For a chance at a Stanley Cup, he'd take it all away
Right down through the wire, even through the fire

You mean the wire holding his jaw together now, right?

Correct. It's a song by Kanye that he wrote right after he broke his jaw in a car accident. Seemed apropos.

Does Sid always look that weird in the eyes? Kid looks stoned to me, which may be the case--if I had gotten my mouth shattered I'd be popping the percocets like crazy.

If I got a month or two paid injured time off work I'd probably get stoned a few times, too.

He can't really eat either. Kind of messes with the body. Probably not sleeping well either with the pain.

Yeah, I just defended Crosby. :fffffuck:

My God...that puck to the face did some real substantial damage.

You know what else sucked? The damage/surgery DiPietro got from the broken cheek bone Johnson gave him, that the Pens all laughed about.

I agree, Sid took a serious injury there, and I was impressed he came back so quickly & has played the way he has. I was pissed at Isles fans for cheering him getting hit in the throat with the puck in game 3 (4 maybe?). But for most other players this wouldn't be a story.

they've done some closeups tonight in HD and no one had said anything about this...but damn his teeth got fucked up!

I don't care how anyone hates...this guy is the real deal. For me its hard to hate a hockey player this damn great and motivated for the game.

Childish & easy, but amusing under the circumstances:

Shero signs Bylsma to a two-year extension, and defiantly declares that he will stick with Marc-Andre Fleury.
