Ironically, the Coyotes have stated they won't be outside of utilizing LTIR space if needed.

If someone insured Bolland's contract, I imagine that agent got fired.

I wonder how much ownership is dying over the fact they didn't tank like this LAST season.

Someone should have told the Red Wings last night...I remember seeing some chat on twitter about how bad they are and thinking "Talk about that AFTER the Wings play them, please".

Hanzal gone for a 1st and 2nd. Good haul. Overrated player, not unlike Bødker.

Really good haul for Phoenix for a big center.

Funny enough everyone was balking at rumoured ask of a 1st rounger for Riley Sheahan. Sheahan's having an awful season, to be sure. Hanzal's season-highs are 16 goals and 41 points. Sheahan? 14 goals, 36 points. Sheahan's stil only 25 years old.

It was the failure of Hanzal and Mueller to live up to the hype that derailed the Coyotes the last time around. Now they face a rebuild where they missed out on Auston Matthews and alarm bells are already ringing on Dylan Strome.

I'm still of the belief that if you don't have a strong center corps to build around, not much else matters.

I didn't see it myself but I read on Twitter that Shane Doan was visibly upset when asked about the trade. Uh...what did he think was gonna happen!?

I think you're dead on about Mueller. After his promising rookie season they probably felt like they had their franchise centre. Didn't work out that way.

Once he made his way over to Colorado (in exchange for fellow failed 1st rounder Wojtek Wolski) you could see why he was doomed. Dude had the smarts, the speed, the hands, everything...but was the epitome of "perimeter player." I'm not sure I ever saw him make contact with anything other than the puck.

Yotes deal longtime netminder Mike Smith to Calgary for BU D Brandon Hickey, 3rd and pending UFA Chad Johnson.

They also acquired C Nick Cousins and Harvard G Merrick Madsen from PHI. Plenty of protection room for a Cousins-type.

Rick Tocchet, out of the doghouse after the whole gambling thing, named new Yotes coach.

It should be noted Andrew Barroway grew up a Flyers fan.

Yup, it's clear who's in charge in AZ and it ain't Chayka.

Keller is my Calder favourite heading into the season. Explosive offensive player who should rack up points on a young, fast team.

Well the "New Era" has the Coyotes off to their worst start ever (not sure if this also counts Winnipeg).

Someone on Twitter pointed out that Tocchet is wanting a very, very fast north/south type of game, and the Yotes aren't built for that. Guys like OEL and Demers should be allowed to skate with the puck and create on their own.

They also look ridiculously disorganized. I watched quite a bit of the Vegas home opener and Arizona appeared about five steps behind in all areas of the ice.

Also, Raanta/Domingue is not a great goalie tandem.

So, umm, Ekman-Larsson is a UFA in a year. Wonder if the Yotes will be able to convince him they're on the upswing.

Keller had a great rookie season. Raanta actually played like a no. 1. Otherwise, Domi, Dvorak, Fischer and Perlini are sorta ok. Strome might finally be ready.

OEL, Goligoski, Chychrun, Hjalmarsson, Demers feels like an adequate top-5 D to me, but Nik and Jason aren't getting any younger.

All-in-all, how Keller grows, so to will the Yotes.

Not sold on Ekman-Larsson. They should just let him walk.

Interesting. Two-years ago just based on hype I would've pegged him at an 8-year, $9M AAV extension. Not anymore?

Buyer beware. He's soft in his own defensive zone and has an inconsistent shot. Once a best kept secret, I say is now overrated and not worth a penny more than he's making now.
