Sounds like Chayka is out. Got a job offer elsewhere and ticked off the brass.

This is kinda odd, according to Grizzly Friedmann, it wasn't a lateral move, it would've been something more than GM. What team was actively recruiting him? I guess he didn't see much of a future working at a place where his bosses switched around every few years.

Maybe they'll replace him with his sister, Meghan. She might actually be more savvy with analytics than him, and, well, just look her name up on Google. You'll see.

Chayka terminated his contract. He's out.

And if you check out the statements issued by both sides, it was a messy divorce.

Watch them get first overall this season. It’s gonna happen.

It's crazy that in their many years of futility they never got one. They rarely even get in the top 3. Turris?

Coyotes lose a 2nd this year and a 1st next year over illegal combine business.

Rumours also abound they're looking to move on from captain Oliver Ekman-Larsson. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire.

Man that fucks them sooooo bad. They traded away their 1st rounder (Hall) and 3rd rounder (Soderberg) already. That means they don't pick until the fourth round in this year's draft, and then don't have next year's first rounder, which could damn well be a lottery pick the way things are going.

My gut says this was a bit extreme, but Bettman clearly wanted to make an example out of them and the Coyotes, led by John Chayka, knew damn well what the rules were and violated them anyway. So...there ya have it.

Whoever takes this job has a monumental task ahead of him. Chayka did very little to take a mediocre club and move them to contender. He got some fine assets by weaponizing cap space, but beyond that has done very little to move the needle in the right direction. He also made some outright baffling decisions in the draft.

I feel like the Arizona experiment needs to end. Just see if the Rockets owner is being serious, and move the franchise to Houston. Enough with this already.

So if Chayka was in charge of the guys who broke the rules, does any team he signs with get punished? If not, that could be one of the greatest "fuck you, I quit!" moves ever. And I doubt any punishment would follow him, as I can't see a rule being written preemptively like that. Is that part of the reason he left, because he cheated and the Coyotes upper front office was pissed that he got them busted?

What a shit show.

He deserves some form of punishment to be sure, but like NCAA coaches who flagrantly violate the rules, let the school get punished and sign for millions with another program (lookin' at you, John Calipari), I doubt he gets anything.

I wouldn't hire him anyway. He did a thoroughly mediocre job and for a guy supposedly stats-savvy, he made some very strange moves that ran counter to what the numbers said.

According to Craig Morgan: Multiple sources have confirmed that the Coyotes were late on multiple player signing bonuses: OEL ($4M due Sept. 1), Antti Raanta ($2M due Sept. 1), Jason Demers ($1M due Sept. 1), Tyler Steenbergen ($43,750 due on July 15). All have since been paid.

Steve Sullivan, Sean Burke, Jason Karmanos some of the names being bandied about. Pierre McGuire is out of the running, and at this point it's clear he's a pity interview teams do to drum up media attention.

Blues assistant GM Bill Armstrong reportedly the new Yote GM. No relation to Doug, supposedly.

But is he related to Billy Joe from Greenday? Or Tim from Rancid?

Yotes still has an outstanding balance that has yet to be paid with ASM Global, which operates and manages Gila River Arena. Balance for 2019-20 season, due on June 30, has yet to be paid.

The Yotes did diddly squad this offseason but they're in the worst division (the three deep West) so they have as good a chance as any to grab the 4th spot.

It's all up to Keller to take another step forward without much help.

Assistant General Manager and EVP of Hockey Operations Steve Sullivan is out. Won't be replaced this season.

If he played a part in both the illegal workout that left the Yotes without a first rounder this year and the Mitchell Miller pick last year, he should never work for another organization ever again.
