Does this move, neuter Holmgren's decision making to some degree?

Well, he's no longer the GM, and the final decision on hockey transactions/operations is now Hextall's, so yeah I'd say so.

Philly fans sure hope so.

The real question should be "Does this move make Ed Snider less meddlesome?" If the answer is "no" then I doubt there'll be much of a difference, though Hextall emphasized in his introductory presser that he wants to build from within.

Will Hextall blame the old GM when he buys out Lecavalier?

First order of business (as joked about here): trading Lecavalier. Unless your name is Danny Briere, paying 4.5M for a fourth line centre is a bad idea.

Speaking of which, any chance Lecavalier will waive his NMC to go to Montreal? Any chance the Flyers will take Briere?

Why would Montreal make that trade? Briere is a free agent after this next season, right?

I thought a plan to send Danny to Buffalo was in the works.

A shame about Vinny. He broke down in a hurry.

Because it would be funny.

AWESOME. Hextall goes Hextall on his team after a bad loss to the Rangers.
