Just got done watching Quiet on the Set......I wasn't able to relate really well with the time period as it was just beyond my time as a kid. Yes, hardly any cable and what I did have was focused on WPIX, HBO and MTV (videos), they didn't really have any of those other channels and if they did I was too old to be interested in those.

This 4-part show follows child actors at Nickelodeon and their exploitation by adult predators. No right minding parent should have their child in this industry.

It always seems to go back to positions of power, abuse of trust and taking advantage of fellow humans in vulnerable situations. Some of the darker social traits humans possess and utilize with frequency.

My offspring seemed to know a surprising amount about this subject even filling in some blanks that the show did not touch upon (more Amanda Bynes).

Anyway....for years it was whispered that hollywood was a paradise for deviants and pedophiles but the mainstream dismissed that yet again as conspiracy.

As the covers get pulled back again and again we see that there was way more truth in those whispers that the lawyers and NDAs were ultimately not able to erase fully.

If you haven't watched quiet on the set give it a shot and see if you can connect the dots elsewhere. Its not hard.

Is it Hollywood or just pedos recognizing a target rich opportunity and gravitating to it. If children is your thing you'd want to be a position of trust with lots of time and opportunity for predation. Coaching, teaching, church, foster care, working at an Indigenous residential school, adoption etc.

I've never heard of it in the news but I'd bet juvenile detention centres have a terrible history as well. They'd be some of the most marginalized children with no support to help them get their stories out, and really no interest from the general public. Its why sex crimes against children in residential schools only recently came to light. No one cared, it was not Joe and Jane's Smith's newspaper buying publics children at risk. If people can't identify with them they don't really care about them.

As I think this idea through, its probably even worse. Identities of juveniles are protected. If the media heard about an instance, how do you find other detainee's and ask about their experiences. You really can't. The system to protect the juveniles and adolescents in the system would also protect the pedophiles.

Oh I can only imagine.....but I would think that juvenile detentions centers or any publicly facing institution like that would have to have a background check. At the time this show was detailing I was also a coach for sports....and while I spent little to no alone time with kids I needed a background check.

In this private industry case, it seems to be a deviant social ring moving in concert, sharing/grooming targets and intel. Now that's where it may sound like conspiracy but there are links and social circles here that point to a bigger Jeffrey Epstein type affair.

Yep. These creeps are all over but we “care” about child stars because we know them.
Gymnastics trainer. Priests (of all faiths). Hockey coach. Football coach. Just a few that pop right into my head. I knew a tennis coach who is still serving time. Also a basketball coach.

Pedos exist all over, unfortunately. Many will never be caught.

Take a Safesport course through USA hockey. They go into some good detail. It used to be more harsh. They had a police photo card with 6 pics and the instructions were to pick the pedo. There was a fat, greasy, unshaven guy with thick glasses, who everyone chose. Other choices were two pretty women, a big jock looking guy, a super clean cut CEO looking guy and a construction looking guy. After you inevitably chose the greasy guy it told you that you were right, but also wrong as all six were in fact convicted pedos. Click on each and it told their story. Scary as hell.
Safesport gives you great insight into how pedis gain trust (grooming). The tennis coach I knew did it textbook style. Extra lessons for free, told the kids they’re stars in the making, go to his house for more free lessons because we’ve got something here, stay later, here’s dinner, watch some tennis videos, oops here’s some porn by accident, how’d the kid react, here’s some pedo porn, how’d they react to that… newspaper laid it all out to try to help potential victims avoid it from others.

Hollywood has its share of pedos, I’m sure. But they’re all over the place.

A piano teacher that used to be in a band with some old friends of mine, and had 3 kids with a girl in my grade who was obsessed with my brother!

Yeah, it's terrifying how many are out there. And your story reminded me of the old music teacher from my school. Had a sleepover party for his daughter and invited certain girls to sleep in his bed with him. They were like 5-6.
