Got any sneakerheads on here? I used to be a 1-2 a year kind of guy, but I've had the chance to add some cool ones to the collection in 2023.

The infamous Nike Bagel Dunks
The return of the quintessential 80s basketball shoe the Converse Weapon
The Jae Tips x Saucony What's the Occasion (very colourful)

And now I'm debating grabbing the John McEnroe Mac Attack remakes.

I regret not getting the Ralph Steadman Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Vans when I had the chance: https://www.vans.ca/en-ca/vault/ralph-steadman

Those are pretty cool, but I never get any of the special Vans. They had Islanders Vans for a while. My wife asked if I wanted them. I think they were $150/pair. Why the hell would I pay double price to advertise for a team? F them, especially for that price. Would they smell better (my joke then because the Isles were playing out of Barclays and its "signature scent")? Last longer? Then F them.

Unless of course they come out with a Search for Animal Chin pair or something like that. Then I'll pay more!

Can we expand this to shoes and other footwear? I like my Olu Kai slippers and my Hey Dudes are pretty cheap and comfortable. I also like my Oofos for around the house.

Big Fan of Mizuno Wave Inspire (used to buy Brooks Adrenaline before I found these)...perfect for fatboys with cushion and stability. Good walkers, runners and general working out.

I also like my quick drying water shoes......I feel very french canadian when I am wearing them. They are a must for the annual mexico trips.

I like my Skecher slip ons for random out of the house outings. They don't offer a lot of support so you have to be careful if the whiskey flows too fast in these.

I also like my Nike Red XTrainers. Great shoes for around the gym and boxing workouts.

Probably not what this thread is about but I do enjoy several pairs of footwear.

My checkered Vans are pretty beat up so I'll need new ones.

I finally caved and got "Dad shoes" aka plain ol' black Sketchers that are just easy to put on and take off. The Vans are nice for that too obviously but in Nebraska you tend to need shoes that have a little more traction. I went to a play gym with my toddler earlier this year and nearly left with another dad's pair by accident.

I'm still very much into good old fashioned Chuck Taylors but as I age I feel I need something that offers a little more support. Also, the flimsy canvas tends to make the high tops a tad difficult to put on when you're in a hurry to get out the door. I found a very nice compromise with these Malden Street Chuck Taylor mid-tops that are a bit lower but have more structure around the ankle area, plus I think they just plain look better than the average CT. But now I'm afraid to wear them too often because I'll scuff them or wear them out too quickly.

Long time ago I bought a pair of Vessis (I believe they're a Canadian brand) for running, which I hardly do these days. They look terrible but they're waterproof and are comfortable to wear.

Those Fear vans are pretty cool.

I always used to wear New Balance trainers and wore out pairs way too long before getting new ones. But then I got orthotics and away we go. Like Michael Lorenzen, the guy with the custom Vans cleats, I'm not so much a sneakerhead as I am a Vans fan.

These are the ones I've picked up, pretty much always on sale.

I've got a pair of wavee skateboard ones that I bought for riding bikes.

These two I could only find in the US in my size and are waiting at my sister-in-law's Dad's place until the next time he comes up.

Those Black & Blue ones are cool. Never saw that color scheme before.

I can tell I'm getting old. I was in a shoe store yesterday with Miss18.2. I wanted a new pair of Vans but threw them back when I saw that lowtop slip-ons are now $60. What the actual fuck? I remember when lowtops were $30 and hightops were $40. Each has doubled. They're still the same shoes that look really cool but are pretty shitty in reality. I guess I missed any holiday sales, so no new Vans for me.

For the record, I wear slip-ons around the house as slippers. Most slippers get hot enough that my feet almost combust (and then the slippers smell like roadkill after like 2 wearings), so the Vans are better for me. $60 for what I use as slippers? Nope. They were $45 just a few years ago.
