Heads up the IRS has rolled out a new 2020 W-4 and done away with the allowances part.
https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-w-4https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/faqs-on-the-2020-form-w-4There seems to be some sketchiness about this.....saying that the higher wage earner should complete the boxes but not the lower wage earner....
Quote:
Complete Steps 3–4(b) on Form W-4 for only ONE of these jobs. Leave those steps blank for the other jobs. (Your withholding will
be most accurate if you complete Steps 3–4(b) on the Form W-4 for the highest paying job
Not sure If I was the higher wage earner that I would want to be taxed all the way while the lower wage earner does not (I don't care if I am married filing jointly). I'll have to ask the tax guy in a few weeks.
Doesn't make a lot of sense if only one partner is filling out the new form.....and the other is in the old allowances system either.
