Definitely not aware of issues regarding blackface though, and it wasn't until the late 80's that I was. The difference was probably being Canadian, we're a lot more cognizant of First Nations racism and less so regarding those of people of African descent which is more of an American sensitivity. Not that any racism should have borders but there is nuance that can be harder to grasp without exposure. Having said that, by 1990 I was well aware what I did in 1984 was wrong. To hear Trudeau say it wasn't racist in 2000, good grief he was 29 years old, what bubble had he been living in?
