Joe Flaherty, one member of that ridiculously talented Toronto-based Second City comedy troupe (later SCTV) that featured the likes of Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, Martin Short, and John Candy, passes away at 82.

Strange that he didn't hit the same level of stardom as a lot of those others, he was every bit as funny.

Hahahaha I'd never seen this skit before. It certainly wouldn't have hit as well back in the day.

The now-late Joe Flaherty and the late, great John Candy doing an SCTV skit playing Guy Lafleur and Darryl Sittler, respectively.

Bob Cole....................didn't realize he called the 72 Summit Series............article is not clear if that was radio or television

I think his voice is pretty much indelibly etched into memory.........he's always been there from when I was very young.

This deserves its own thread. Bob Cole was legendary for so many of us old dudes growing up. HNIC was a hockey mainstay for years until the NHL ruined it chasing dollars a decade ago. He's been missed since 2019. Travel well Bob Cole you will always be one of if not the GOAT behind the mic.

So many memorable calls over so many years. I had my complaints later in his career but he's a legend. RIP, Bob.

British actor Bernard Hill, known best for his roles as King Theoden in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and poor, doomed Captain Smith in Titanic, dies at 79.

RIP Steve Albini, a music legend who produced so many classics and wrote a few of his own.
